About

Promising the Sabotage touch in every system, Sea of Stars aims to modernize the classic RPG in terms of turn-based combat, storytelling, exploration and interactions with the environment, while still offering a hearty slice of nostalgia and good old, simple fun.
Pressing the action button in sync with the animations increases damage output while reducing incoming damage. Along with timed hits, combat features multi-character combo attacks, boosting, and a strategic "locks" system offering options to play with different damage types in order to hinder enemies while they are channeling powerful attacks or spells, all in an immersive take on the genre; no random encounters, no transitions to separate battlefields, and no grinding.
Swim, climb, vault, jump off or hoist up ledges as you traverse seamlessly through the world with a navigation system based on platformer expertise that breaks free from the classic bound-to-the-grid tileset movement.
Our custom-made render pipeline allows the creation of a breathtaking world coming to life by pushing the limits of 2D pixel-art games.
Dozens of original characters and story arcs will take you on a captivating journey. Sometimes epic, sometimes silly, and other times emotional, Sea of Stars does its RPG duty of exploring classic themes of adventure and friendship, while also being chock-full of the unexpected twists and events you’d expect from a Sabotage production.
There are many ways to hang out in the world of Sea of Stars if you feel the need for a change of pace in your adventures. Sailing, cooking, fishing, stopping by a tavern to listen to a song or play the infamous tabletop game known as "Wheels".....every system has been designed to deliver an experience that pays respect to retro classics, while rethinking in some areas to offer a smooth and modernized experience.
Sea of Stars’ adventure is playable in its entirety by up to three players. Allies can drop in and out anytime to traverse the world together and master the Co-op Timed Hits combat mechanic. Also available via Steam Remote Play Together.

Regrettably, this game simply does not live up to the hype that led me to purchase it. Lots of effort and love went into the visual design of the game, but that's about it. I can't give it more than 6.5/10. Perhaps the game would have been more enjoyable if played with local co-op, but many of the fundamental flaws would remain. The music is good, but not memorable. The writing is simply bad. I cannot maintain my suspension of disbelief because the story is constantly introducing new, totally unrelated ideas without any unifying threads to tie them all together. Here's a simple example: "Songster Magic," which is used by a late-game character. To my recollection, it is only mentioned once in the story. It has no ties to the rest of the world and is seemingly only put in place because the designers wanted singing magic. This, plus the gods that shall not be named, the rules that powerful beings abide by that shall not be explained, the
ascension of the main characters into an immortal god/goddess
...I could keep going on, but I think I've made my point. And the "true ending"...I'm not sure what to say, except that it was tremendously underwhelming and honestly quite nonsensical. The characters don't feel like they're real people with struggles. They all have one-dimensional personalities that makes it impossible to connect with any of them. The DLC was the only part of the story that showed a hint of character development. The world doesn't feel like a world teeming with people affected by the decisions and actions of the main characters. Instead, it feels like a patchwork of themed levels strung together on a world map so you can teleport from one set of levels to another. I did not find the exploration and puzzles to be particularly interesting. And the combat...unfortunately, the combat is interesting for just the first few hours. I played on the hard difficulty (no items in combat, no healing at rest points, etc.) and learned pretty quickly that you are not rewarded for taking risks. Your goal is to simply play defensively and keep your battle resources (MP & Combo Points) ready for when you are forced to perform a particular set of skills to stop your enemy from casting a powerful skill. It's thus more passive management than engaging combat. There are "minigames" when performing actions, which is an improvement over simply selecting skills, but it doesn't compensate for the root issue. I don't know why I finished this game. I certainly did not enjoy how the true ending was locked behind replaying a portion of the game and chasing down collectibles. I'm not a completionist and did not enjoy completing the story. I read the rant and the easter egg behind the fourth flimsy wall - to the developers: I'm sorry. It seems that a lot of energy and passion was spent creating this game, but this game just does not hold a light to ones like "CrossCode" and "Ori and the Will of the Wisps."

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Beautiful game Beautiful soundtrack Beautiful story theres nothing else to say
looks good, music good. Thats about it. Combat sucks, story sucks.
I was kind of wary about this game because most reviews and comments I've heard talk about repetitive combat and a lack of strategy options around it, and, of course, the endless comparisons with the classics. I experienced none of that. While Sea of Stars has obvious influences from other more well-known RPGs, it's a really solid game on its own, and it's mechanics are deep and fun enough. The characters, world-building and story are quite compelling too. And the artstyle, of course, is amazing.
probably best of pixel art but the story and dialog just too bland like disney cartoon, imagine a burger cook by michelin 3 star chef with premium bun+sauce+side etc but the meat is low grad from any supermarket. such a waste potential, feel bad to give thumb down but people need to know
This is truly a modernized classic RPG. I'm really enjoying it so far and can't wait to continue playing it! The puzzles are cute and interesting, and feel reminiscent of games from the early 2000s but still leveraging modern design philosophy and technology.
I've never played this kind of a game before and I loved it! It has amazing soundtracks and visuals. I really wouldn't imagine loving a pixel game this much. Although I played pretty slowly, it never bored me. I'd buy anything these guys make from now on. A small feedback tho, I know the "true ending" is an optional ending but you know once we invest this much hour to the game true ending feels like the last piece of the puzzle and collecting every each Rainbow things in the world + doing all the quizes felt like a boring chore at the end. I wanted to do it by myself but anything like this design will just push the player to look it up on the internet and avoid wasting more time so I suggest stay away from this kind of chore to present a "alternate ending" to the player. Thanks.
