REVIEW #139 Scritchy Scratchy ---------- If being hooked on Scritchy Scratchy is anything like actually being hooked on lottery games and the like, then sweet Lord on a biscuit with butter, I never want to touch a scratch-off ticket from this point forward. or I will forever be destitute. Scritchy Scratchy is an idle game with incremental upgrades, a very common game type. What makes this title stand out from the pack is its subject matter and how it implements it. Players start with a day job of washing dishes, and once you get enough money, you can buy yourself lottery tickets. Eventually, you'll get upgrades like a robot that scratches tickets for you and an egg timer that can speed up time for a short duration. Once you reach a certain point, you can "prestige" and reset yourself to get new permanent upgrades that make leveling up in the game easier. Scritchy Scratchy is surprisingly addictive. If I wasn't scratching tickets like crazy to get a jackpot, I was obsessively watching my robots to see how much money their scratched tickets were bringing in. Overall design of the game is great, especially the pixel-art visuals and overall style. One aspect that really stood out to me as a pleasant surprise was the design of the different tickets that you could buy. They looked very similar to actual tickets that you can buy in real life, and part of me wanted to be able to really scratch one. There's even a silly little storyline in the game! The only negative aspect about Scritchy Scratchy that stood out to me was that the repetitive (albeit pleasant) background music. However, that feature can be turned off. I should also mention that I was able to clear everything in the game (minus achievement hunting) in about 50 hours, which included moments when I walked away from the game and let it do its thing while I washed dishes or something. Therefore, some players may not feel that the amount of content offered here is worth this title's price tag (currently $7 USD). Overall, if you don't mind a little of the idle game grind for an addictive experience, then I highly recommend checking out Scritchy Scratchy, especially during a sale. This is easily one of the most fun and addictive idle games that I've played.
