Your aunt’s dead, your cousin hates you, and you’re stuck in the dead-end town of Scarlet Hollow. Choose your path through a branching narrative so dense that you'll see less than 1/5 of the game on a single playthrough. You won't be able to save everyone. Good luck, and welcome home.

About
From the developers of Slay the Princess, Scarlet Hollow is an immersive horror-mystery with sharp writing, impactful choices, and meticulously hand-drawn art.

Coal mines sealed off after a deadly collapse. Strange creatures preying on livestock. Houses infested with vengeful spirits. The sleepy town of Scarlet Hollow has suddenly come alive with horrors, just in time for your arrival. This was supposed to be a quiet getaway in the rural mountains of North Carolina. All you had to do was finally meet your long-lost cousin and comfort her through her mother’s funeral. But now, each new day welcomes new nightmares.
You only have to survive a week. But can you get to the bottom of the horrifying mysteries haunting Scarlet Hollow before they claim your life?
The first five episodes are available now, with one major content update planned before the story reaches its conclusion.
Features
A heavily branching narrative where your decisions (actually) matter. The relationships you forge and the decisions you make will dramatically alter your journey.
A complex paranormal mystery. Investigate haunted houses, strange sightings in the woods, a deteriorating mine, and more as you try and piece together what happened in Scarlet Hollow.
Trait-based dialogue and role-playing. Scarlet Hollow's dialogue system is driven by role-playing elements that let you choose who you want to be. Are you quiet and observant? Hot and clueless? Can you talk to animals? 21 different character builds change how you interact with the world and how your story unfolds.
A dynamic relationship system that reacts to your every choice and changes how your story unfolds. People won't just like or dislike you. Become friendly rivals, bitter adversaries, best friends, or mild acquaintances with everyone in town based on how you approach the story.
Original monster designs inspired by Appalachian myths and cryptids.
No jumpscares. All of the horror in Scarlet Hollow comes from dread, tension, and a sprinkle of disturbing imagery.
A touch of romance. Whether you're into goths, dads, moms, paranormal investigators, mysterious recluses, or actual monsters, you'll find something waiting for you here. And if you'd rather avoid that entirely, your story won't be any less for it.
Hundreds of meticulously hand-drawn and traditionally inked backgrounds. Every background in the game is hand drawn and inked by Ignatz-winning graphic novelist Abby Howard.
Fully immersive art. Each major character has dozens—and often hundreds—of hand-drawn sprites that interact with backgrounds and capture a full range of lighting, emotion, environment, and outfit changes.

Peak choice-based game. The character writing are exceptionally good: they are complex, lovable with their own flaw. The story are creepy in a lot of different way, the more you think the more you sink in. There plotline is intricate with a lot of foreshadowing, which ties tightly with the game's main idea of choice and sacrifice. 11/10. plz play this. It's a shame that you can't romance the town, including Dustin the best boy.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

As of this review, the final 2 chapters aren't out yet, but I can confidently say that this is one of the greatest games I've ever played! I didn't know much about this game going into it at first, and I'm so happy I went in blind. Whenever I think I know where the story's going, there's always one or two pieces of it hiding in plain sight that fully bring it together, sometimes they're in the same episode, or multiple episodes apart. I love the characters in this game, and the fact that the game makes them so likable from the most obvious to the most subtle of details and expressions on their faces, makes some moments either wholesome or absolutely shocking. I haven't had a game make me feel this genuinely surprised in a while. I can't wait for the final chapters to release!
I've already done two runs through chapter 5 and am on tenterhooks for the full release. The writing is excellently paced, the characters all have unique voices, and the sheer variety of outcomes is breathtaking. Now if only I can keep myself from being the goodest boi to see more of them >_>
Fun game
a personal experiment that is both intricate and consuming I dare you... try not to think about the kitchen while you're eating bought both titles after trying the demo
It's a visual novel, so of course it won't be for everyone. But if you're not deterred by that and if you enjoy lovecraftian-esque horror with weird creatures, cryptids, and deep family secrets, this is for you. The artstyle is peculiar, I'll admit it. If you come here from Slay the Princess, another of Black Tabby Games' projects, the artstyle is completely different despite the artist being the same person. But it grows on you, it's all part of the mood, along with the music, and for a visual novel it actually got my blood pumping a few times. There are some legit stressful situations, and the music is a masterpiece for that. The dialogues and writing as a whole are on point, with some genuinely funny moments (The real ones will know of Tabby's gentle smile in episode 2) as well as some really touching, and sometimes dark moments. The characters are all really well done, to the point where I didn't end up disliking any of them by the end of the game, with some where I had a change of mind during the gameplay. Shows the depth and complexity of some of them, especially when the one I have in mind is actually only truly relevant in episode 5. The game manages to be both stressful and comfortable at the same time, like something you'd watch wrapped in a blanket with some hot tea and snacks. Definitely a great halloween game, for those who want to give it a shot. Greatly replayable, kinda quick to finish on repeat playthroughs too, with different traits giving you different possibilities and paths during key moments as well as very normal discussions, giving you insight on some things even when there are no stakes to the scene. I have played it through three times already over two days, and I regret nothing. The last two episodes cannot come too soon!
BEST GAME EVER!!! TABBY BEST COUSIN EVER <3
Genuinely amazing.
Very atmospheric game, fantastic story, some truly harsh choices. I really like the idea of optional traits affecting the conversations and plot and they influence things more than I expected. The 5th episode was such a good culmination of everything we have seen thus far and I'm looking forward to more.
