Your aunt’s dead, your cousin hates you, and you’re stuck in the dead-end town of Scarlet Hollow. Choose your path through a branching narrative so dense that you'll see less than 1/5 of the game on a single playthrough. You won't be able to save everyone. Good luck, and welcome home.

About
From the developers of Slay the Princess, Scarlet Hollow is an immersive horror-mystery with sharp writing, impactful choices, and meticulously hand-drawn art.

Coal mines sealed off after a deadly collapse. Strange creatures preying on livestock. Houses infested with vengeful spirits. The sleepy town of Scarlet Hollow has suddenly come alive with horrors, just in time for your arrival. This was supposed to be a quiet getaway in the rural mountains of North Carolina. All you had to do was finally meet your long-lost cousin and comfort her through her mother’s funeral. But now, each new day welcomes new nightmares.
You only have to survive a week. But can you get to the bottom of the horrifying mysteries haunting Scarlet Hollow before they claim your life?
The first five episodes are available now, with one major content update planned before the story reaches its conclusion.
Features
A heavily branching narrative where your decisions (actually) matter. The relationships you forge and the decisions you make will dramatically alter your journey.
A complex paranormal mystery. Investigate haunted houses, strange sightings in the woods, a deteriorating mine, and more as you try and piece together what happened in Scarlet Hollow.
Trait-based dialogue and role-playing. Scarlet Hollow's dialogue system is driven by role-playing elements that let you choose who you want to be. Are you quiet and observant? Hot and clueless? Can you talk to animals? 21 different character builds change how you interact with the world and how your story unfolds.
A dynamic relationship system that reacts to your every choice and changes how your story unfolds. People won't just like or dislike you. Become friendly rivals, bitter adversaries, best friends, or mild acquaintances with everyone in town based on how you approach the story.
Original monster designs inspired by Appalachian myths and cryptids.
No jumpscares. All of the horror in Scarlet Hollow comes from dread, tension, and a sprinkle of disturbing imagery.
A touch of romance. Whether you're into goths, dads, moms, paranormal investigators, mysterious recluses, or actual monsters, you'll find something waiting for you here. And if you'd rather avoid that entirely, your story won't be any less for it.
Hundreds of meticulously hand-drawn and traditionally inked backgrounds. Every background in the game is hand drawn and inked by Ignatz-winning graphic novelist Abby Howard.
Fully immersive art. Each major character has dozens—and often hundreds—of hand-drawn sprites that interact with backgrounds and capture a full range of lighting, emotion, environment, and outfit changes.

This game had me hooked from the very second i started playing, The creepy atmosphere and mystery of the appalachia keeps you wanting more. It is rich in story and throws you into scenes you cant simply predict. Its a virtual book; you create the narrative as you play and every choice matters. As you begin to bond with characters youll have to make harder choices within the game as it throws you through trolley situations for the lesser evil and outcome to keep them alive. story rich and nail bitingly good especially from the prospective of an avid reader and lover of horror and books.
havent been this eager to replay a game for a LONG time. Kudos to the devs like always

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

i love that the choices actually matter and boy do they matter a lot
Fantastic story that keeps me and my friends theorizing, complex characters that you want to get to know better, and the first game I've played where "choices matter" seems like an understatement. Highly recommended!
Absolutely brilliant game, its one of few choice based games where every choice I make ACTUALLY feels like it matters
This may appear to be an older game which may put off some people when considering whether to buy it. Please note that the story is not even over as of September 2026 but is supposed to be next month. There's a very small team behind Black Tabby Games and this was not a game released as a finished product. It was released episodically. For game genre, I would go with horror, visual novel, and choices matter/multiple path. You play as a character who shows up in the titular town after a relative you never met has died. You have a complicated relationship with family and it shows immediately in your cousin, Tabitha, and how you communicate. Scarlet Hollow, you soon discover from locals, is full of ghost stories and legends. As you progress the story, you find more and more evidence that the rumors are true. There are several characters that you will befriend in the playthrough and there are varied love interests to explore. At the beginning of the game, you can choose specific traits that will unlock special dialogue options and actions in certain situations. Choose carefully. I played all the way up to the most recent chapter from March 2026 and it was extremely satisfying. You should definitely pick this one up. Also by these creators is Slay the Princess.
Extremely well written and your choices hugely alter the game. I will definitely replay with different traits and choices.
Scarlet Hollow is a game where the developers decide to write a lovely, weird and quirky story that you can't help being affecitonate about. Now, that would frankly be okay on it's own. But what did they also do? They've developed, an actual, insanely large, unhinged sprawl of choices that diverge in ways I've never seen in any videogame or medium, period. You get to feel like your choices matter. Because they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ do. It's not window dressing. It's Scarlet Hollow. You're not able to save everyone. You might not even save yourself. But you can offer a bag of boiling peanuts to anyone you meet and flirt inappropriately, while chatting mystical ♥♥♥♥ and weirding everyone out. Then play it again, talk to the animals and end up romancing some kind of weird entity that you're pretty sure is evil, but maybe not. Or you rewrite reality. I don't know, things happen in here and you can't really explain or put them into words. All of this is accompanied with a lovely soundtrack, grizzly sound effects and beautiful art. Genuinely, what more could you ask for? Maybe more cute merch. But I think they're on that whole shabang.
The best choices-matter game I have EVER played, hands-down. Every playthrough can be completely different, the characters all feel so real and truly a part of the world. The story is fascinating and soooo much fun to theorize about. I never write reviews for games, but such a beautifully made labor of love deserves it. This game is absolutely worth the money and time.
