Command vast armies across the surface of a star-encompassing Dyson Sphere in this next-gen RTS. Shatter the map itself with superweapons, freeze oceans to create new invasion routes, and control hundreds of units in your quest to dominate humanity's greatest megastructure.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.
About
This is a free demo of the next-gen RTS - Sanctuary: Shattered Sun! This demo contains a few single player scenarios to give you a taste of the game. The full release will have multiplayer, an epic single player campaign, a full suite of land, air and naval units. And much more!
Sanctuary will feature a campaign, multiplayer, base building, a flow-based economy, kingpiece commander units, as well as land, sea and air combat.
Every projectile is simulated. Nukes level bases and energy shield generators hold the line against long-range artillery strikes. Sanctuary has a core focus on strategic decision-making over fast-paced micromanagement.

When conventional weapons aren't enough, deploy superweapons that literally break the map.
Watch as your enemies' bases plummet into the sun below when you destroy the structural supports of the Dyson Sphere itself, crumbling the ground from under them.

Seize control of Sanctuary's climate systems to reshape the battlefield. Watch as your enemies' fleets become trapped in ice while your armies advance across the frozen wastes.

Few players will muster the enormous resources needed to build a Titan, but even fewer will survive fighting one.

Destroy the enemy commander and you win, but be careful because if your own commander falls ... it's game over.

Scale matters: wage war across massive 40km x 40km battlefields with up to 10,000 units under your control.
Watch as physically simulated projectiles create unexpected moments of warfare - like missiles striking aircraft in mid-flight instead of their intended targets.

The year is 2758, and humanity's greatest achievement encircles the sun - Sanctuary, a Dyson Sphere housing over a trillion lives. But this marvel of engineering has become a battlefield, its gleaming cities reduced to rubble, its surfaces scarred by endless war. The dreams of paradise have given way to a brutal struggle for survival.
Choose your allegiance among three distinct factions: the pragmatic EDA, the futuristic Chosen, or the enigmatic Guard. Each brings unique strategies, technologies, and units to the fight for control of humanity's greatest creation.

Powered by cutting-edge DOTS technology, Sanctuary: Shattered Sun delivers smooth performance even in the largest battles.
Every explosion, every unit, and every tactical decision comes together in a seamless experience that pushes the boundaries of what's possible in strategy gaming. Watch thousands of units clash without your PC slowing to a crawl.

Reviews
Greetings from Ukraine! I hope the developers of this product are reading the reviews, because in this post I’ll try to explain in detail why the project’s release should be postponed for at least another year. I became interested in this game after seeing it during a live stream on YouTube. Since I’ve played “Supreme Commander” before, I’m generally familiar with this genre and I enjoy it. I’m sure most players will compare this game specifically to that series. The game surprised me right after it loaded, because when I launched it, I was greeted by a rather poorly designed menu window consisting only of horizontal lines in several shades (mostly blue) without any text. Later, when I selected “Cat in a Bag,” the main menu opened. I was pleasantly surprised to see Ukrainian among the language options, but disappointed to see Russian on the list of available languages. Another annoying issue was the inability to adjust the screen resolution right away (the default was set to the minimum value), and it wasn’t until later that I managed to find a setting that was comfortable for my eyes. I suspect that this was the very “cat in a bag” I had selected earlier. The main menu offered three modes: multiplayer, as expected, was disabled; I didn’t want to go through the tutorial (I like to explore everything on my own); and there was the campaign. So, I played the first quest mission offered and came away with some rather unique impressions. Let’s start with the quest’s cutscenes, whose graphics match the game’s (with settings cranked to the max), but despite that, they’re on par with the older games in the Supreme Commander series—which might be acceptable for an early test but would be a major mistake for later stages. Next, I’ll address the controls and units. -So, regarding the controls: I tried to figure out how to skip the intro video (the skip function doesn’t work). It was disappointing to notice the static unit menu constantly displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen. The commands had no key bindings; they were also static, and specific commands were highlighted for individual units. It was disappointing that I couldn’t set up a patrol because the feature isn’t available—engineers also can’t use this feature. Basically, there are roughly three commands: go there, do nothing, shoot/build (depending on the unit type). Since we’re given the standard unit evolution progression of T1-T2-T3 and T4. I’d like to note the variety of functionalities (such as a siege mode for tanks, fortifying positions for artillery, accelerated maneuvering for raiders, invisibility for snipers, etc.); the only difference lies in the units’ stats—and it’s a drastic one that’s noticeably reflected in the game’s economy. Only a few buildings could upgrade their tier (factories and “mass replicators”); for some reason, it’s not possible to upgrade the rest of the previously built structures, which forced players to immediately move to T3 and only later build the final tiers of fortifications, etc. The mission events were impressive, but as I mentioned above, a well-fortified defense can hold off the Colossus without any losses. As for freezing water or scorching the ground, it’s a questionable decision in terms of balance so far; it might feel great in the campaign, but not in PvP, which is what people love about this genre. And finally, I can’t figure out why they didn’t create the map at an earlier stage, and why at this stage the screen displays two resource bars at once (the first one at the top left, which handles distribution, and the second one at the bottom right, which, in my opinion, is the main one and should be next to the first or merged with it)—which causes issues with tunnel vision during gameplay. After playing the demo for 3 hours, I can honestly say that I currently prefer Supreme Commander; however, I’m hopeful for an early release and trust that the developers will release a truly noteworthy product that will be a worthy competitor rather than a mere shadow of this series. Thank you very much for your attention, though I’m not sure anyone will read this all the way through.

Not letting players access skirmish and just ♥♥♥♥ around and experience the game is not a great look or sign
The game is not just a spiritual successor of Supreme Commander, it completely surpasses the original franchise
The game is not bad per se and allowing to play a free demo is a nice gesture from the devs. I am not sure thoughwhere the other reviewers get their SupCom / FAF feeling from. Sanctuary has small maps where you plan and act on a tactial level rather than the strategic scale of FAF / SupCom. Units are cheap and production is quick. T2 trumps T1 and T3 beats T2. So if you want to survive an early rush, build a wall of T2 PDs which eradicate anything. Then push your eco and your T4 spam will always win the game. Sounds familiar? Yes, because this game feels and plays a lot like SupCom 2 which was a shrinked and dumbed down letdown from FAF. Only thing FAF like in Sanctuary is the "flowing" economy which is totally f'd up by the UI. The eco balance needs to be in your face full-time with red numbers if your economy stalls. SupCom had this 20 years ago. Why would the devs put this most important information in the lower right corner of the screen in half-transparent light grey color? I really hope the devs use the next 12 months and the additional funding (not from me btw) to buy and play a few rounds of FAF to get a feel of what their game is currently lacking.
Just came here to say: what are you waiting for? Support the kickstarter right now. This is it! The successor to SupCom FA.
There's real potential here, but it's a hard sell for me when Beyond All Reason exists and is free.
Could not get the Demo to work properly. Issues: - First launch of the game was a mess, it was Fullscreen and completely messed up. Had to blindly click things to finagle a way to the graphics settings screen. Only changing to windowed fixed it (kinda). - The resolution is locked for me at 320. Had to set it to windowed and stretch the window, which seems to change the resolution. - Sound was intermittent. Sometimes on starting the game it would work, sometimes it wouldn't. Tried several versions of proton, same result. - Could not get a game to start. It would change the loading screen after clicking Launch Mission, show the 'shaders' message a few times in the bottom corner, then hang. When sound worked you could hear it change at one point, as if the loading screen was finished, but nothing happened. I don't know if these issues are limited to SteamOS, it may work better on Windows. For SteamOS and Linux users I can't recommend it. Milage may vary.
