Coming after and being a huge fan of playing dynasty warriors 8 xl, i came into this game with high expectations of something of similar quality. But again and again this game continues to disappoint me the longer i play it. First, lets talk about the positives: The port is well made for PC experience and easy to control. Character designs in this era of dw8 and sw4 is unbeatable Gameplay is entertaining though it feels less satisfying and less flashy compared to DW The AI navigation when you're off character is very good as well Now the disappointments: First. The story. Maybe perhaps due to the way history unfolded, focusing on 8 different "legends" compared to DW's 3, the story telling and levels in SW4 are spread incredibly thin. There is no room to build any ounce of character development or convince the player to feel a sense of connection to the characters. I simply just don't care or feel invested when a character achieves something or meets their fate because there was not enough build for me to care. For example Oda Nobunaga. The "CaoCao" of SW. Such a prominent character ends up being completely underwhelming and one dimensional. As if this game has only barely scratched the top of the iceberg of this character. You cant understand his ideology, his psyche or his true personality from what this game presents you. How does DW8 give more personality and development to each 82 characters than SW4 with 55 characters. Characters show up and disappear without proper explanation explanation Cutscenes are very short that they end up losing their effectiveness and don't contribute anything to evoking feelings in the player. For example the final cutscene. the finale. of uniting Japan. All we get is a 10s cutscene THAT DOESNT DO ANYTHING. Not to mention in game battle cutscenes like the boulders and the ships docking are heavily re-used across the chapters. And it's really annoying that the character move set is locked behind their levels because sometimes you only get to play with that character once in a story mode and end up playing them in level 1 with 3 moves. You cant spend coins or anything to upgrade them either. In all, i was very disappointed with the way this game handled the story and its characters as the flow of the story is usually very rushed, short and abrupt, as well as not allowing any sort of character development or understanding.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 3: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

So... like its a Samurai Warriors game. I feel like if you've played one Musou game then you've played them all, but this game is just a fun game to turn your brain off to and fight thousands of soldiers. The one benefit I'll give to this game is the various storylines - I enjoy Japanese History and so that made this game more enjoyable than maybe some might have. Nevertheless, by the time I reached the end, I was ready to be done - you can only defeat a certain amount of soldiers before it gets old, y'know. Shoutout Motochika Chosokabe and Mitsuhide Akechi 7/10
best samurai warriors game since sw2.
Samurai warriors 4 DX is a 1vs1000 combat Contains over 50+ characters. There is special rare weapons within the stages to get. This game has multiple stories depending on the campaign. The multiplayer was great but there was no person hosting to join them, it works on a LAN connection to play with my wife. There is a chronicle mode where you get to create your own character and collect stories from the characters you meet, you can build up your friendship with them also romance them. This game comes with all DLC's including the costumes and weapons. Only bad thing i hated about this was the amount of talking in a battle in which the objectives didn't show because of back log of dialogue. I really enjoyed playing this and i do recommend this to any fan of the series. 9/10
Historical - ★☆☆☆☆ Sanada Nobushige (Yukimura) was born in 1567, yet his first battle is set in the Fourth Battle of Kawanakajima in 1561. Although popular characters like Yukimura and Masamune participated in fewer major battles due to their later births, there are still many aspects to their lives that could be described without forcing them into pre-birth eras. Furthermore, there are many meaningless alterations. For example, Azai Nagamasa originally decided to rebel against Nobunaga due to territorial conflicts and pressure from his father and senior retainers, but in the game, he is portrayed as being instigated by Matsunaga Hisahide to rebel against Nobunaga. Character Development - ★☆☆☆☆ The difficulty curve is a disaster. For example, in the Oda chapter, I used Oda Nobunaga and Nohime the whole time, but then in the final stage, I was forced to use characters outside the Oda faction. Are you kidding me? The final stage forces me to use only level 1 characters? It's the same in the Unification of Japan chapter; I used Toyotomi faction characters for the beginning, but then the final stage forces me to switch to the Tokugawa faction. In past games, battlefield achievements could be freely distributed among all characters. This meant the longer your total playtime, the easier it was to develop new characters. But this time, that feature was removed, and there are a whopping 55 main characters, each starting from level 1. Has the game designer gone mad? Customization - ★★★★☆ The character customization options are extensive, which is one of the few strengths of this game. However, collecting custom outfits is extremely time-consuming and tedious. Conclusion: Compared to the past, this game is very uninspired and some parts are extremely poor in terms of experience. It also lacks many challenge modes and mini-games. If there were more games in this series, I really wouldn't want to play it.
Not the best Samurai Warriors but hell is it pretty good. Still waiting to see empires on here or even some sort of 3 port.
