Great concept the UI is a little lacking, I know I am staring with a crude craft but a compass, wind direction and map overview would be nice.

TLDR: Movement is really clunky. Could be really good if they focused on solving basic videogame character movement mechanics. Too expensive for what it is at the moment. Bought it cuz it was recommended by AI as a good sailing sim, had never heard of it but it emphazised that it focused on realistic sailing, which in theory it could be, but I expected something way more polished for 17 euros and 5 years since release. Movement is extremely clunky and you will struggle more with staying above the ship and not throwing your cargo out while trying to get back up (you grab stuff through the boat) than anything else. Islands feel empty, which I would be okay if the core mechanic was more polished and that was something to look for in the future. Core mechanic: making staying on the boat and interacting with its parts feel natural and not like a fight to stay on the boat. It feels like you're glitching and gliding on the surfaces trying not to step down. Sound glitches everywhere, movement glitches also on the docks as well as the boat. I would have loved to give it more time but for 17 bucks and such basic things still unresolved after 5 years I honestly can't trust it. I'll keep it in my wishlist to see if they ever re-do the character physics.

Hands down the best sailing game on steam! Plenty of adventure, challenging but not overly grindy, especially if you learn the mechanics and get into a groove. Also works good on the steam deck. The larger city in Al'Ankh can drop a bit below 30 fps at times, but out in the ocean and on smaller islands it's very smooth.

This is without a doubt one of my favorite games. The only thing I can really do with this review is thank the developers for creating it and show my support so they can keep developing and improving it.

So the game is cool, however the starting boats just suck. We all want the frigate, we all use the save editor, we don't want to have to start over every update when we want the blue water capable ships. Can't recommend until they bring back the save editor fix.

You are a fake fan if you leave a bad review because there are survival and damage mechanics. Dying of thirst is part of the experience. If your cargo dematerializes because of a Unity bug just pretend it was pirates.
