🌒 This is bad, but personally love it. Low budget hack 'n' slash just for the show fans. The filler campaign only lasts about three hours. The battles are pretty repetitive, with a couple of combos per character, and not that great camera. The game has big emphasis on co-op & multiplayer modes (if you're alone, the final boss is almost impossible). LVLing is very grindy and mostly useless, due to resetting any progress after the rank update (online is dead, forget about it). I wish this game wasn't abandoned. It needs polishing, fixing collisions & hitboxes bugs, updating of character models (especially some DLC's costumes), but «Rooster Teeth» doesn't care anymore. It's easier for them to re-release full pack game on new systems, without any significant improvements.
This game whole development would've made you feel exactly like how it would feel watching the actual show. Promising at first before you realize the downward spiral and no fks given/self respect before you turn away and never look back, lamenting on all that lost time. So exactly like watching the Roosterteeth show

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I can run RWBY Grimm Eclipse on my 10 year old laptop with orange juice scars and a broken w key I live fulfilled and happy.
Got 132 hours of play in less than 2 hours of play. Maybe it's a refund protection, but I wasn't going to do that, and now this game is at the top12 of my games in terms of time. The soundtracks in the new anime are bad.
I should have made this review years ago, I am sure that anyone who was going to get this game has bought by now, but here it goes anyway. Don't buy this game, and if you buy it, only do it on sale, and don't buy the DLC's even if they go on sale. There is so little content here, that it's not worth your money. There are only nine levels and all but two are exactly the same. Run down the hallway until you get to an area that they won't let you leave until you kill four waves of enemies then repeat until the level is over. The only level I actual like is the one wear a mine cart has been strapped with a bomb and you have to run around getting it fuel to get it to the end before it explodes. The only other level that is any different is the final level because it has a final boss at the end (a final boss that can be ridiculously annoying on single player, unless your play as Yang or Jaune with upgraded ultimate's, then it is a complete joke), which is sadly the only boss in the game. Credit where it's due, there are a wide variety of enemy types, so at least you can mix it up a little bit. But even so, the levels are empty. There are no NPC's, no side quests (or quests of any kind other than keep going), and no collectibles other then some random chess pieces that only get bones exp that you don't need anyway. And the story doesn't pick up the slack at all. There are no cut-scenes and since there are no NPC's, everything is told to you over the radio. Not that there is much to tell anyway, because the story boils down to "Evil scientist is experimenting on the Grimm to make them more powerful, go stop him". And despite the game supposedly being canon to the series the main villain is never mentioned again. The best I can say is that the voice actors do a good job. And like I said, don't buy the DLC's. It is insulting that a game with this little content makes you pay up to 15 dollars for different costume sets, and I feel embarrassed for having bought them when I was younger. The only things I can say are good are the graphics, the music, and the upgrade system, the latter of which actually does a good job at letting you experiment with ability and makes sure don't become to strong to fast with each character, though since your skill points are always available once you earn them, you petty much have to handicap yourself on repeat playthroughs by resting your skills and waiting to use the points to avoid it being too easy. There is some fun to be had in this game, but the few things it has to offer are better served else where. If you want a Hack and Slash game, all five of the Devil May Cry games, Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising, Dead Cells, and Hades are all on Steam, just wait for a sale then your golden. If you want a RWBY game, go download RWBY: Summer Rose Court (a fan made visual novel) which while it doesn't have any combat and throws out most of the RWBY universe to tell its own story, it is by far the best written thing related to RWBY (just read the guide before you play it because how to get the good ending makes no sense otherwise) and as a bonus you can pick who Ruby is in a romantic relationship with (if you care about that). Oh, and it's FREE. And if you like Summer Rose Court, you might also like JPDE (another FREE Fan made visual novel with much more aspects of a dating simulator). While it's not nearly as good as Summer Rose Court, it still has a pretty interesting story, it's funny, and the original characters are lovable. In conclusion: Grimm Eclipse has a decent combat and leveling system and good enemy variety bogged down by repetitive, empty levels with nothing to do but go forward. It's more fun with friends, but most games are. How I managed to play this for 62 hours back in the day is beyond me. If you really want to buy it, buy it at sale price. Don't buy the DLC's costumes at all. PS: if you are new to RWBY in general, everything after Volume 4 will only disappoint you. Good luck.
It fed my addiction after Volume 9 ended and gave me a new addiction. 10/10. Probably gonna sink another 75 hour into this game, at least.
not to be a hater, but this game is very boring. if i could refund it, i would, but i waited too long and now i cannot... just super repetitive and didnt feel like "rwby" just felt like rwby models fighting monsters..
Worth it for RWBY fans who are also fans of hack & slash games. All the characters do feel different, especially once you start going up their talent trees. Some characters are Optimal, but the game isn't difficult enough to demand constant Optimal play. The ending boss is sadly a grind-fest in single player.
It's a big no. I played a lot cause someone I loved was found of this game. This is my honest opinion about it: It's fun the first hour, and then everything is the same over and over. Only 3 techniques per character, monsters have 2 variations, story is dull, multiplayer is quite boring quite fast. If you like RWBY you'll be happy to see the characters but that's pretty much it. Runs well. I'm being pretty harsh here but for real don't. It's not worth it.
though it's a game thats been abandoned and left behind by RT, it's community keeps it strong and the mods this game has are very fun to play. Its fun to play with friends, and theres different playstyles to use. You could build a ranged grenade Nora, or have her use hammer combos, Blake you can use her powerful aoe ranged stun or her air attacks, each character has different options like this and as long as you take a bit of time to download the mods it can be a great time sink.
