A classic text adventure - but you're not the one playing it. You're the game master for an idiot player named STEVE. Parse the player's enigmatic commands and decide how NPCs react to him. Who knew that running an RPG would be so frustrating?

About
Run TavernQuest is a role-reversing twist on old school text adventure games. You're the command parser and game master, overseeing the game's inner workings for a player named STEVE. Can you guide STEVE away from his poor decisions so he can save the princess?
In this game, you won't be typing. Instead, STEVE is the player and he types commands to you, often very bizarre ones. Your job is to interpret his words and choose how the adventure proceeds. The choices you make can lead him down drastically different paths, but it's ultimately up to STEVE to win the game.

Fully narrated, featuring the very talented Jack Dundon
Control the environment and every NPC as they respond to STEVE's stupid commands
Engage in text-based combat where your goal is to lose every time
Customizable font and grayscale mode for enhanced readability

I found this during next fest, I Was hooked by the initial style of dealing with Steve. Some negative reviews here clearly have not had the time or patience to actually play through the game past the first stage. Now I'm emotionally attached to a Cowboy named Keith, and have a strong knowledge of Candleabrum or is it Candelabra's? I digress 10/10 Hope this dev makes more!
CANDELABRUMS!
This is an exquisite piece of storytelling. The humor is perfectly balanced with the pace of the plot, and there is an element of "just one more click" to see what happens next. As an old school gamer that started out with text-based adventure games, I appreciated the fresh twist on a nostalgic trip back to the foundation of my gaming journey. Well done developer!

The fact that I'm a fan of both text adventures and narrative indie games made this a very good fit for me, but I can see people who don't like one or the other of those being less enthralled. The developer lists Davey Wreden among his special thanks, and I think that's a good indication of what to expect. While it is not necessarily LIKE The Stanley Parable or Slay the Princess, it has echoes of both. For me, it scratched similar itches to those two games.
As a forever DM, this game hurts my brain lol. Probably best done in small doses, but it's fun.
i give it a caveman/candelabrum
Отличная игра, простая, с чувством, с хорошим повествованием
Genius game with smart writing style and good plot twists with a slight phylosophical touch! Bought it on sale and got more than my moneys worth out of it! 11/10 true gem
What a beautiful story. It doesn't need high graphics, it doesn't even need pictures. Just great voice acting and a story that's worth the play of this game. The ability to kind of create characters for your gaming experience was a very nice touch and some you just fall in love with. I highly recommend this game if you want a story you can invest in.
