Just enough like other farming sims where it's easy to understand but it's also different enough it doesn't just feel like the same game with a new texture.
I knew of this game for a while, because you can't like pixel farming sims without coming across it, but I only got it this year, which was conveniently after an update that brought some much appreciated quality of life features, like seeing which animal variant you already tamed. The start was a bit slow. Need to gather seeds myself, don't know what I might need so I don't dare to sell stuff, tools too weak to remove big obstacles, etc, the usual. A few hours in, it opened up more, when I unlocked buildings, purchases, animals, upgrades, all the good stuff. You can ride almost any animal you tame. You can have up to 3 pets, one of which is the cutest spider I have ever seen. I am 100 hours in with the intention to 100% achievements and there is always some carrot on a stick. Progress in the caves, tame animals in different colors to collect them like a sticker sheet and unlock rare colors, breed animals for better produce, find more seeds and level them up, gather resources, hunt fish. Even if you're not going for achievements, the ingame goals make you go for many of the same things like top quality crops and produce. The story is... ok. Granted, the last leg of the story was a bit disappointing; did we really have to bring
time travel
into this? I liked the quest itself though due to aforementioned completionist ambitions. Character creation is ok, too. I wasn't blown away by the options - neither for the char nor for the clothes - but you get a few, and you can also make changes later. Additionally, you have limited influence on the town layout and you can place your farm buildings freely on two plots of land. You can even customize decoration! Open the menu for a jar to decide what you want to be inside! :D The caves aren't elevator-style, they're a sprawling system where you need to fulfill challenges and unlock skills to progress. There is a fast travel system that unlocks more the further you progress, and as reward for finishing the "main" part of the story, you get something that works like a greenhouse. Another nice thing is that game gives a feeling of community better than most others I played. Yes, I contribute a lot, and I deliver materials for a lot of ideas, but the clan itself also develops some ideas. People hang out, especially on rainy days. I usually don't like children in games, but I LOVED those. Quality of life is nice, too. You can see the range of beehives, you can rename and recolor chests, you can track people on the map and have icons for the services they offer, you can move (farm) buildings, you can call your mount at any fast travel point, you can see what's growing and how long it is going to take, and you can save anytime you want (though only at your bed). Lastly, there are various mini games, some of which are mandatory, and some of which are optional: taming, fishing, line fishing, trapping, insect catching, guitar hero style music games, a dice game, mount racing, as well as a bunch of mini games that happen during festivals. I'm not particularly good at them, but I managed to get everything I needed or wanted. There aren't many negative points that come to mind. I personally found (and still sometimes find, 100 hours later) the controller controls a bit unintuitive. I keep swapping the wrong tools/seeds/bars etc. And without going into spoilers, for one achievement you need an animal produce that takes forever to get. I spent about 2 seasons just waiting for my livestock to grow so I could continue breeding, because I have already done everything else. Oh, and as a cherry on top I got stuck in the environment in the last cutscene, so I ragequit the game and uninstalled lol But for the majority of it, I liked it. I play these kinds of games to slowly work towards my goal of completion, and it guides you through that nicely, as you really do need to combine all the different things to progress. Personally, I see little replay value, but 100+ hours to finish is decent, though someone who isn't going for 100% will most likely spend less time at it.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Roots of Pacha is a charming and thoughtful life simulation game that reimagines the cozy farming genre through a prehistoric lens. Set in the Stone Age, it invites players to build a thriving clan not by relying on modern tools or magic, but by discovering and innovating the foundations of civilization itself. Instead of inheriting a rundown farm like in many genre staples, you’re part of a nomadic tribe settling in a new region, helping to shape everything from agriculture to social customs. This narrative twist gives the game a refreshing sense of purpose and progression. The core gameplay loop is familiar to fans of life sims: plant crops, gather resources, build relationships, and upgrade your village. But Roots of Pacha adds layers of meaning by contextualizing these actions as discoveries. You're not just planting seeds; you're domesticating wild plants. You're not just crafting tools; you're inventing them. This framing makes each milestone feel significant. Discovering animal husbandry, for example, isn’t handed to you—it’s a reward for observation, experimentation, and collaboration with other clan members. The result is a slower, more intentional pace that fits beautifully with the game’s thematic focus on community and ingenuity. Mechanically, the game is polished and accessible. Movement and interactions are fluid, the UI is clean, and the tutorial eases you into the Stone Age lifestyle without overwhelming you. There's a satisfying rhythm to the seasons, with new activities and discoveries unfolding naturally over time. Farming is simple but expands as you gain knowledge, and there’s a sense of satisfaction that comes from gradually transforming wild land into cultivated space. Beyond farming, the game offers animal taming, fishing, mining, festivals, and a relationship system that includes friendship, romance, and even clan-wide decisions that affect the community. A major strength of Roots of Pacha lies in its emphasis on cooperation—not just in multiplayer, but within the narrative itself. Clan members aren’t static NPCs; they evolve alongside you. You can influence the direction of village development, vote on new ideas, and see characters grow as they discover their roles within the group. This collaborative storytelling enhances the emotional stakes and gives you a strong reason to engage with each member of the tribe beyond the usual gift-giving grind. Visually, the game uses a detailed pixel art style that feels warm and inviting. Environments are rich with texture, and the changing seasons are beautifully represented. The prehistoric setting is full of small artistic flourishes—bone tools, stone pathways, and lush, untamed flora—that reinforce the game’s unique identity. The soundtrack, too, is gentle and atmospheric, with tribal drums and natural sounds that blend seamlessly into the gameplay. It contributes to a meditative tone, encouraging players to slow down and savor each in-game day. That said, Roots of Pacha isn’t without minor flaws. Progression can occasionally feel too slow, especially for players used to the faster pace of other farming sims. Some mechanics, like animal taming or tool upgrades, require precise conditions that aren’t always communicated clearly, which may lead to moments of confusion or wasted effort. And while the game offers a wide range of customization for your character and village, some players might find the romantic interactions and dialogue options limited compared to more narrative-heavy life sims. Despite these small issues, Roots of Pacha stands out as a thoughtful and lovingly crafted addition to the genre. It reinterprets familiar mechanics through a historical lens in a way that feels both original and educational without being preachy. More importantly, it captures the quiet joy of discovery—of turning an unfamiliar place into a home, of working together to make life a little better each day. It’s a game that values community, creativity, and patience, offering a serene but rewarding experience for players who want something more grounded and meaningful from their virtual lives. Rating: 10/10
It's a cute game, I've spent hours in it and would gladly spend more. It takes a while to compelte, and if you're going for completionist, ALOT longer. The new update is very interesting and expands nicely with the lore. End game after the update is a diffrent story, at least for me. If you haven't almost exclusively focused on both agriculture and farm animals it's gonna be a long grind. Needing x amount of the highest quality for alot of plants and anima drops feels very excessive. I finally got a steady income and most of my things upgreaded and build extra breeding pens to speed up the process. But having nothing to spend all the money on and just going to bed early every day just waiting for the animals to breed made me lose the motivation to get the very last part of the lore. Do recommend though, but to avoid the end game grind do some planning and research on the items you'll need
My wife and I play this game together and I must say its great. Somewhat reminiscent of another very popular farm sim but unique in its own way. I can see us putting a lot of hours into this one.
I've played through Stardew, Fields of Mistria, and Sun Haven already so I was desperate for another game. There was some hesitation to starting Roots of Pacha because I wasn't really into the tribal scene. However, it was on sale so I decided to give it a whirl anyways and I AM SOOOO GLAD I DID. They keep the gameplay so interesting with introductions of new ideas and developments just when things start to get a little monotonous. I wish that the romance and some of the dialouge is more interesting/interactive, but otherwise this game has exceeded my expectations!
Roots of Pacha offers a thoroughly well crafted and charming world with gameplay loops that engage and reward for a long time. It is utterly enjoyable to explore the various areas as they open up, discover new animals which you can breed, and gather seeds for vegetables and fruit which you domesticate over time. The different characters and tribes are mostly well written and have their own personality with some of them having more depth than others. Building friendship with the locals, romancing people, entering a union and ultimately having children is all quite well done. Especially growing your children from a newborn to a child that goes to school and chooses a profession is quite rich in this game compared to other similar titles. The overall story that unfolds ties everything together nicely and gives your interaction with other tribes even more purpose. Anyone who enjoys this genre of games cannot go wrong with Roots of Pacha. Solid recommendation. Some minor critique points for version 1.3 are, in my opinion: (1) Some crafting resources are not utilized enough and do not offer further purpose with higher tier crafting recipes in the mid- to late-game; (2) Cooked dishes which are mainly intended for stamina regeneration and buffs serve little purpose as most activities do not require stamina; (3) Animal breeding and management can become quite cluttered and difficult if you try to breed and keep all animal color variants.
