Many farming sims these days feel like a cheap reskin of Stardew Valley meant to cash in on the current popularity of farming sims/cozy games, but Roots of Pacha isn't one of them! The plot is an endearing journey of mending mistakes made in both the past and the future, giving a warm reminder that every action in the present is relevant and ripples out to impact others across time and distance. The theme makes Roots of Pacha memorable and the gameplay remembers to tie into it in meaningful ways. In a pre-currency world, you don't sell items for monetary reward. Instead you earn community points that advance the development of your village, lead to new innovations in crafting, and spill over into credit you can spend within the community. In outside communities you barter/exchange goods. The initial plants you gain will become domesticated over time and animals have to be tamed, a late stage plot twist allowing you to evolve both into more modern variants. The art is very polished and pretty. With the latest content update, there's a very satisfying chuck of story and assorted tasks/quests to work your way through and overall it's very well balanced. I played at a leisurely pace and it took almost 4 in-game years for me to finally check every possible thing off, which I think is [i]great[/i]. They even did what few of the farming sims I've played allows and opened up a butcher option for excess animals (which I had a lot of) while still allowing them to be harmlessly released for players who feel uncomfortable with that and giving alternative ways to get meat. My only complaint is that I wanted to keep one of every color of animal and could not build/upgrade enough sheds to do it. Roots of Pacha comes up often in lists of Best Farming Sims and I can see why! I definitely recommend this game!

The cozy farming-sim genre is getting pretty crowded these days, but Roots of Pacha does a good job setting itself apart with its cute pre-history theme and well-implemented co-op. The game does a great job making you feel like part of the community, and unlocking new tech by literally helping your neighbours invent it is a really fun idea. I like the wide variety of animals (and mounts!) and breeding them for better stats and rare variants is a nice long-term goal. A whole-hearted recommendation from me!

I love helping the tribe thrive and bringing out the best in everyone. The characters feel well written and have personality, i feel rewarded for all of my work, and i am dazzled by all of the stunning art and animations. I look forward to 100%!

After playing a couple hours over the past two years on this charming little gem, I thought it was time to give my recommendation. This is a marvellous farming sim, no doubt about it. I absolutely adore how the clans-people are up to things of their own and improve the life for you as you progress, in your own pace. What's not to love about that? The experience of growing together as a community has not been this rewarding in any other game I've played. It's usually one person (you) carrying everybody else on your sore, broken shoulders, like a beast of burden, scurrying hurriedly across the world to do everything on your own. In this game, you feel like a part of a big family. The pixel art-style is amazing and probably my favorite of all of the pixelgames out there. The art-team has done an amazing job. So has the people making the music. This is one of the very few games where I haven't turned off the music. It's just great. The characters have more depth than in most games, and the comments stating otherwise surprises me, as one example was "My time at Portia" which has plenty of boring, generic lines for most of the characters. This many hours into this game, I have not gotten any generic lines from any of the characters in Roots of Pacha. They are their own, fully. I could honestly go on and on about what I love about this game. So to cut this short, I would recommend this game to anyone who seeks a charming new farming sim. 9.9/10
