About
About ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN
Take control of the protagonist Romeo Stargazer in this third person singleplayer action adventure, split into various chapters. His story is both unpredictable and littered with intense battles, interspersed with side missions to suit the player's pace.
A story that transcends space-time
This game's story starts with space-time itself being shattered by a certain incident. Romeo, too, on the brink of life and death finds himself revived by a new kind of super technology. Thus he is recruited for the FBI's Space-Time Police as a special agent, and wanders the cosmos in search of criminals who've taken advantage of the situation at hand in an attempt to bring justice back to the universe. At the same time, he looks for clues concerning his missing girlfriend Juliet, and quickly comes to find both her disappearance and the destruction of space may be more linked than he thought. Donning the mask called Deadgear, what awaits Romeo at the edges of space-time?
Fight blood with blood
Romeo switches between swords and guns to fight. Wipe out the waves of enemies that stand in your path to give birth to a new kind of bloody action, and take down the fearsome space-time criminals that await. Absorb the blood of your enemies to unleash Romeo's special attack: Bloody Summer, capable of turning any situation around. Romeo's various weapons can be strengthened and altered as the story moves forward as he takes on even stronger enemies.

Recommended to anyone who likes character action games with weird aesthetics and story. This continues in the vein of previous games like No More Heroes by having a plot that goes all over the place with around 6 different art styles. The combat is pretty good, not amazing but I played on Hard and enjoyed the challenge. Main downside are the mediocre performance, and some irritating long animations in the farming minigame
The main character of this game wears shin guards that say “FBI” on them. That’s the kind of ridiculousness that you can expect from Romeo is a Dead Man. Maximalist. Audacious. Weird. Madcap. These are words that describe most of Suda 51’s works. Romeo is a Dead Man is no different. Like them, this is an auteur-driven effort that forgoes careful editing and instead throws everything at the wall in the hope that things stick. This’ll be just fine for those who are already familiar with Suda’s style or for people who might be buy-curious; everyone else might not be so amenable to this methodology. Even diehard fans can admit that Romeo is a Dead Man is a messy, mostly incoherent, and janky game that will equally enthrall and frustrate players willing to get on its wavelength. This game oozes style. It takes a multifaceted approach to its presentation - you’ll experience cutscenes that use in-engine assets, comic book panels, dioramas, traditional animation, and even FMV. Standard gameplay takes place in 3D environments, while in-between segments take place on a 2D ship. There are even visual novel segments. Like No More Heroes, it seems that the developers put a lot of care into the boss fights. The creature designs for them are disgusting and creative. And also like No More Heroes, the environments leading up to them are bland and lifeless, which sharply contrasts from the rest of the game. Speaking of gameplay, Romeo plays like a pretty typical hack and slash. If you're looking for a character action game, you won’t find it here. Combos are simple and you aren’t really punished for button mashing, at least on Milk Chocolate difficulty. You also have guns in addition to the melee weapons. I found the gunplay to be really underwhelming - there are 4 guns that play pretty differently but they’re all ridiculously slow in almost all facets (slow to move, slow to aim, slow to shoot, slow to reload). Enemies have weak spots that you can shoot to deal extra damage and stun them, but it’s extremely difficult to aim for these when you’re being mobbed. Your move sets are further augmented by summons called bastards. Unfortunately, the bastard farming process is extremely tedious and makes it difficult to really engage with… but the bastards themselves are fun to use and help mix up the combat. The narrative of this game is very disjointed. The main character of the game is Romeo, who is a cop in Appalachia whose face gets eaten off and is subsequently brought back to life by his grandpa and is recruited into the FBI’s Space-Time Police division. Oh, and his grandpa turns into a jacket to accompany you. Oh, and Romeo has a girlfriend named… wait for it… Juliet who is also a space-time criminal and you spend the entire game chasing after her. Does any of this make sense? Romeo asks multiple times in the game if he’s supposed to understand anything that’s going on and I’m not sure that I did but I sure did have a good time experiencing the story. The characters themselves, however, leave a little to be desired. Romeo, as the main character, comes off as a total blank slate. Is Juliet evil? Why are there so many characters on the ship that don’t flesh out the story? Despite all my misgivings, I think that Romeo is a Dead Man is worth experiencing. It’s not the best game but it is pretty competent and is one of the most creative that I’ve played in awhile. If you’re looking for something wild to offset the sterility of blockbuster games, you found it here.

What a wild and fantastic game. I definitely would recommend this game - is it perfect? No. But it's fun, imaginative, and packed with charm and heart. Unless someone just hates fun, I think a lot of people will find something to enjoy. It's a love story that has not just the kitchen sink but the whole house thrown at it - so many different styles, themes, kinds of music - and it works. Sometimes is strange, sometimes it's silly, other times it's scary or freaky, but no matter what it is, it's fun, and you can tell the guys at grasshopper put so much of what they love into this. On the down side, the story isn't always the easiest to make sense of, and while a lot of it does come together, it might not makes sense right off. The performance itself of the game was at times a little rough for me with a few slowdowns and crashes here and there, but after the first patch it seems to be running perfect. There's also some areas that were a bit of a slog, but mostly they were varied and fun. At the end of the day, IMO this is Suda's most "Suda" game yet - wild, crazy, and often confusing, but it's one of those games you just finish up and say to yourself "damn, that was awesome". And what's better than that?
Game was being amazing so far, BUT I CANT OPEN IT ANYMORE PLEASE FIX IT when I open it, it says "The UE-SevGame has crashed - Fatal error!", it happened since launch but could fix it verifying files, after last patch that doesn't work anymore and can't open the game
