poop ♥♥♥♥ piss
not bad but honestly just get medieval 2, i'm sure there's a roman mod out there. it's this game but better in every way, the character stuff and combat got refined in that entry.
epic game
Lots of variations available

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ THIS GAMES CONTROLS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SUCK "Oooooohoooooh but nostalgiaaaa it was sooo good Rome II is so awful 1 is so much better everything else is trashhhh." ♥♥♥♥ everybody that has this opinion. The game does some interesting things and is a bit more sandbox-y and sometimes more detailed in its campaign gameplay then more contemporary TW titles. However, the combat is not as detailed and slowpaced as rarts like Volund make it sound. It's clunky and weird and battles can be won in minutes, just like every other TW title. Oh yeah the controls. Did I mention they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ suck? Unresponsive, clunky, disruptive in real-time battles where i have to make quick decisions. Don't even get me started with that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ camera.... it's bad. We all know it's bad. I get the whole "oh, well it's part of the game it makes it more realistic" argument. Idgaf. Just make out of range units invisible like in the other games. After being hype-beasted and gassed to play this hunk of ♥♥♥♥ by the TW community on YT, I have to say: No, your dumb childhood game doesn't hold up. Touch grass. And maybe, just possibly... purchase Rome 2 Emperor's Edition. It's on sale for 12 bucks while I type this! I'll still probably play this game anyways cause it's TW and I love TW. The old school graphics and your little units are kind of charming in an early 2000's kinda way. And I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love history, so I get it. But MAN.... this game DID NOT age as well as the TW community would have you think. If you're a TW fan I guess give it shot. But Med II is more worth it honestly. It's still clunky but much more refined. The Rome 1 community is just crazyyyy... bless their little hearts :) Edit: I tabbed out mid-battle to type this. When I tabbed back the game stalled and crashed. Boooooooooo. Rome 2 wouldn't do that.
