[h1][b]Rome Total War is the following game of the Total War series started in 2000 with the original Shogun Total War (followed by medieval Total War)[/h1][/b]. More ambitious than Shogun and Medieval, it provided with even more playability than this first game. While Shogun was based on medieval Japan's history, Medieval, published in 2001, was tackling the whole of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East during their own medieval period. Rome tackled the history of the Roman Empire. [b]The game provides play in two different theaters: a campaign for the Roman Empire period from the Republic until the Empire period and the campaign for the Barbarian Invasion that led to the demise of the Empire. [/b] There are various ways and possible setups for each campaign, with historical events providing modifications to the gameplay through some local or European wide impacts. You can play many different factions, with various levels of difficulty. There are historical campaigns and battles too!. [b]In reality, you could consider there are many more campaigns taking into account the three Roman factions at the beginning of the game, or the various Barbarian factions later on.[/b] One turn of play represents one year, play is simultaneous, all factions choose their actions, and these are resolved simultaneously at the end of the year. Each battle happens in real time. Through building improvements in your lands, you will be able to widen your choice of the military units you can produce whenever you feel the need to. Some of these buildings will allow you to improve control of your lands and the morale of your troops. The build system is not simple, but not too complicated either, and provides a good way to manage you domain. It has a great replayability value, it is not too complex, the management system is quite simple, and it is easy to lose track of time while fighting your battles and growing your empire. And because of its age, you could run this game on your coffee maker without a hitch! Any computer, old or new, can run this game. I originally played the game in Windows XP many years ago, but got it on Steam last year and played it on Windows 10 without problem. Bonus: you get Steam Trading Cards. Definitely recommended![/b]
