Rogue Legacy 2 is what you'd get if you mashed Rogue Legacy and a sequel together. Every time you die, your children will succeed you, and each child is unique. Your daughter might be a Colourblind Archer, and your son could be a Pacifistic Chef. Either way, one of them is getting conscripted.

Reviews
Review of a guy that played through every nook and cranny of the original unmodded predecessor Rogue Legacy. The game is definitely an upgrade to its predecessor in most ways. The base of kill all available bosses to unlock final boss remains the same alongside the traits, classes, levelling and gold systems. Many of the games classes didn't strike a note with me, but the game offers enough of them to accommodate for different playstyles and every player will most likely find favourites. I'd be happier if more focus went into traits design. elaborating for the devs: The current traits either feel like they don't affect the gameplay as much (mostly traits that affect: body size, knockback, stats, visuals – with the exception of the Diva and C.I.P. traits, etc.) to traits that make most runs very frustrating (Algesia, Fun Guy, etc.). The most interesting and well designed traits probably are Disattuned and Vampirism, because they change the way one goes about fighting in a unique way without feeling frustrating (like before mentioned Fun Guy). I understand the trait system now strongly supports the gold system, but after tens of hours they just feel like a neccessary and frustrating obstacle. New relic system makes sense, the pool of items is probably just enough for the size of the game. The soundtrack felt not as unique with comparison to Rogue Legacy, which is probably just my preference of the 8-bit music. The graphics are definitely an upgrade. After like 8 years of not playing the original Rogue Legacy I was surprised how the game looked when revisiting it today. Of course the art styles are different and back then I didn't mind the original one, but today it'd be probably really hard for me to replay Rogue Legacy after going through Rogue Legacy 2. Gameplay wise, my only problem was the turn speed / locked direction of a character while attacking (understandable for some classes – Dragon Lancers skill crit attack, etc.). Just made the flow of fights a bit more clunky. Imo would be better to just buff all enemies by 10 % with this constrait removed.
