A brutal godlike village sim that melds the god game, management, and tower defense genres! Fight off hoards of monsters at night, and expand your village in the day time. Inspired by games like Black and White, Rimworld, and Dwarf Fortress but not quite like any of them.

is good survival city sim, has many murder and ghost and people and stuff and things and ands.
(100+ hours on an alt account) I love pacing most. It's a slow, colony sim that you've got to be thinking many steps ahead as attempting to turn on a dime leads to some frantic moments. The tower defense elements blend perfectly and the God powers don't break the balance. Very well done game.

Y'know that feeling of just "one more click..." and the next thing you know half the day is gone. Yeah, this is that kind of game. Simple to play, difficult to master, and something about it keeps drawing you in. Even after losing the game again and again. But that's by its design. Winning is keeping everything running for one more hour than the last.
Take the money and run. Game is abandonedware, It's not worth the pick up I bought it full price and I thought it had such promise, but just shows you this market of "indie" games, can have a lot of bad apples
Needlessly complex
Good in the ideas, but in other ways it's not so great. The AI for enemies is simple enough and it's never a problem. The viliagers' AI is weird and dumb. Not sure why they randomly decide to go off to the other side of the map just to punch enemies in the face. They do it even in the middle of the day. Not even their job. other than that, it's cool. The option to play it as a basic settlement builder is also fun, as balancing settlement and defense is a bit much for me.
good fun
Whatever guy made Rise to Ruins, a game that could have been great but will be in the dollar bin forever: You keep on tweaking it, while entirely avoiding *making it accessible.* You have to be a grognard willing to wade through details to gain entry... Which I am, so I did. But I've been lightly following it for years waiting for it to take off. And what I think the real roadblock is, is that the programmer doesn't want anybody to win. At all costs. In spite of patch notes, elementals are still OP. People won't run defense. It's... OK, granted, you could go in to Sandbox mode... if ANYTHING IN THE SETTINGS WERE EXPLAINED ADEQUATELY AT ALL. We are presented with a screen full of sliders with no clear, concise description of what they mean. It's a coin flip if sliding left increases or decreases. And the cherry on top, which I forgot until today. It is recommended that you cut your teeth on "Traditional" until you know some of the ropes then go to Survival, which is the HARRRD mode. Until I am proven wrong, it is impossible to beat traditional. I mean maybe this game has gotten as big as it can, being all pixelly and strategic... But I can't find an in to recommend it to anybody. It's as if any angle I could look at it from has some deliberate flaw to put people off from feeling accomplished or having fun. And by fun I mean fun. Not what I have been experiencing, which I have come to realize is an angry drug-like call to pound it again. That's not fun. That's not what I want to do into my elder years, have a vendetta against a trash game. ...but it's almost NOT a trash game, it just needs a little tweaking, someone who values clarity of language to go over the settings text, and some means to let a player enjoy some measure of victory, at all. (I used to enjoy just unlocking perks. The introduction of achievements to replace random quests for perks was intriguing... and now, once the achievements are done, there's nothing to do to adequately continue the roguelite portion of the experience. Just staring at an xp bar and a full inventory. I believe the effect is the reverse of what was intended. Who knows at this point.) So I'm going to have to keep telling the friends, family, alumni that I'm bonkers for having this much playtime and not to buy it. Rise to Ruins doesn't seem to want your money, your approval, your input, or your enjoyment. I'm just here trying to break open a wall with my face.
I wish the UI wasnt terrible, the NPC pathing nonexistent and the zoom isnt massively limited I just wish this wasnt the game it is really
