Absolutely recommend getting it at this point. The developer is a great person and communicates a lot. the game feels great, for me, i actually played this before playing any armored core games. i was planning on playing fires of rubicon, but it was expensive and not on sale at the time, so i went for this game "instead". note that it is very much its own thing, a love letter to mecha games like ac. i hope it will become more polished with time, its probably not going to look much different graphically but some small polish and adjustments to the world design and the graphics would be appreciated, highly so. great experience overall, can recommend, it can be difficult at times but you can play relaxed mode to encounter less enemies and some parts are really more forgiving than others. also good on steam deck where i played a little, too.
Armored Core Roguelike, it's what the doctor ordered.

Easily the best rendition of crazy bullet-hell mech gameplay found in the Armored Core series, combined with the near-infinite replayability of Risk of Rain. I think where it really shines is the persistence factor. Getting scrap and new parts with every run makes it all feel worth it. As other reviewers have noted; it's infinite Armored Core. Thank You, Mr. Boatman. I can't wait to see how far this game goes!!!!
You can say this game make me Remember my Mechanized Memories -in the end, for my Day After Days.
There is a lot to like about this game! It feels true to form in creating an Armored Core-like experience, and the graphics give it this really retro feel that reminds me of all the beat-em-ups of old. There is definitely some polish missing. Objectives are hard to see, the compass is cluttered and not terribly informative, enemy indicators are difficult to see and the verticality of maps makes knowing where to go just a tiiiiiiny bit more tedious than it needs to be. But on the movement and combat its delivering so far. Its hectic, fast, and has so much movement tech that I havent come remotely close to mastering. If youre looking for an indie Armored Core-like I would give this a shot, or at the very least keep your eye on it!
Good game haveing fun. Good luck to the dev
The game does a surprisingly good job of emulating the gameplay feel of Armored Core, so the dev nailed it. It's an AC-like roguelite where you can go in and just shoot things for a bit with each mission being slightly different, and the graphics manages to capture some of that AC1/2 vibe without being distractingly lo-fi. The cons, though - longer missions are a must. By the time you complete your build, the mission is over, so you never get to really see how powerful your builds could be. The soundtrack is also very simple and will burn its way into your head in a bad way even over a single 20-30 minute run. Sound design could be better, too.
ahh, in top ac6 fashion, the needle gun is also broken
A fun game with a very enjoyable gameplay but a few issues that drag the experince down. I still belive that the game is worth your time but it could defenitly use improvements in some core areas. The act of moving and controling your Rig in combat is responsive and fluid in the best way possible, your dash boosts flow into one another with grace, flight boost gives you an incredible way to close distance quickly without simply locking you into a straight line and keeping your boosters on or turning them off to get a better energy recharge is a fun tactical consideration for the player to engage with. The act of controling your rig in combat is fundamentally fun and sets a firm foundation for the rest of the games systems. Unfortunately this is where I must start discussing what I disliked about the game. The difficulty of the combat in missions is not particularly challenging, and only gets easier with the in mission upgrades you unlock as you play. Sources of healing are plentiful both on the map as pickups and from upgrades, resulting in even low health builds not struggling for survivabiltiy even after high difficulty scaling kicks in. The roguelike in mission upgrade system is simplistic and lacking in player choice. I don't mean that you lack in options but that none of the options you choose fundamentally matter. There is never a choice that alters how your Rig or its weapons play during a mission, simply a flavour of damage or survivability buff you want. There is no option to sacrifce a weapons magazine capacity in exchange for greater per shot damage for example, or any upgrades that force you to sacrifce any part of your Rig for benefits, only flavours of diffrent buffs you want. This means that as the mission goes on and you kill more enemies and complete more objectives you simply get more and more powerful until you cap out on possible upgrades, leading to an ultimately boring gameplay experince once you get the fundamentals of the gameplay down. The Rig customisation system is also not without flaw and could use definite improvement. My biggest complain is the Keyword system. Rig parts (Not Weapons) drop randomly on missions for completing objectives and come with two random keywords that seem to affect the part's stats. Unfortunately there is no way to easliy guess at what effect a key word has on a part and how that affects its resultant stats. I can guess that a part with the Lightweight and Aerodynamic keywords will have a reduced weight and might affect my Rig's flight performance, but I have no clue what a tactical crusher's part would do. Adding a glossary of keyword effects to the in game pilot's manual would help alleviate this and allow you to understand more easily what swaping the parts of your Rig will do to its performance. Overall I had fun with the game and have almost all the in game acheivements but unless new content is added or some major reworks happen I don't see myself putting much more time into it.
Wow. What a find. I've been a fan of AC for many years, not as many as some but since the 4th gen. Gameplay feels very reminiscent of AC4/A era. Very fast paced, like a kangaroo on amphetamines as I always described it. My one gripe with the controls is that the auto lock seems to have a crazy wide angle and it can make navigating away from enemies difficult. Customization is more like AC6 which is not my preference but I understand that it's much easier for an indie dev to manage so I'm okay with it. A half dozen unique booster slots and like, 20+ stabilizer slots amongst other things is probably too much considering even FromSoftware scaled it back for AC6. Customization seems very in depth though I can't seem to make sense of the parts. I get Knight legs, supposedly a heavy set, that are much lighter than Scout legs, supposedly a light set, presumably because of the random affixes but there's no way to tell exactly what each affix does. Part farming can be painful right now. I'm trying to collect all the backpacks but some of the arena fights just aren't cooperating. Arena fights don't drop internal parts either, so you have to run the raids for those. The nice thing is you can complete a raid pretty quickly (sub-10 minutes) and you'll get a lot of parts and scrap for doing so. The "Relaxed" game mode seems very vacant on the large maps. Definitely recommend playing the "Standard" for a more engaging experience. Scrap, the currency, unlocks both weapons and can unlock slots for your non-weapon equipment to customize. It can also buy extra rerolls for upgrades during runs and the ability to remove upgrades from the pool. Pretty standard roguelite stuff. You can unlock new parts, upgrades, etc. by gameplay and sometimes by finding them in the mission too. Doesn't seem to be any way to spend scrap to buy the things you put into your equipment slots, so once you have everything unlocked Scrap seems to be a bit useless without a dump for it. The game is solid, one of my better buys as of late and I've been on a bit of a spree lately. It's not perfect, but I have only run into one bug so far, and the issues I have with it are relatively minor compared to the many things I think it does well. If you told me when I was young that one day, we'd get a roguelite mashed up with AC, I'd have said "What the hell is a roguelite?" because the term wasn't invented yet BUT that's not the point. It's a crazy combination that I would not have thought would work, but it does. If you're a fan of AC, or a fan of fast-paced roguelites, or both, it's worth a shot. Progress from the demo carries over, so there is absolutely nothing to lose by giving it a try.
