A NIS sempre me surpreende com suas histórias e formatos de jogos. Um RPG musical é absurdo para quem pensa dentro da caixinha mas a NIS faz Rhapsody ser uma aventura completa, com uma trama simples porém não menos interessante. Você pode achar a história um clichê invertido (A garota salvando o principe) mas o ponto é o desenvolvimento dos personagens, suas interações e o quanto muito podem e serão cativantes. Comédia, drama, rivalidade e até uma pitada de terror deixa o jogador imerso nos personagens ao ponto de ignorar a história principal, como se o verdadeiro foco fosse no quão brilhante os personagens, mesmo no limite da simplicidade, podem ser tão marcantes. Obs: O jogo lhe entrega personagens femininas sem forçar panfletagem nenhuma, muito pelo contrário. Não suporto militância em jogos, não importa o lado. Aqui, você tem uma história feita com carinho, e não como instrumento de emburrecimento.

Fun turn based JRPG to play.

I grabbed this game as the description said that Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure is “a game that laid the foundation for the beloved Disgaea series,” which is one of my favorite game series of all time ever since I've played Disgaea 2 on my PSP. Without getting into spoilers and going into a tangent, this game is CUDDLY AND CUTE. Sure, it might not be the hardest JRPG out there (the only real difficulty spike is the second last boss fight), but everything from the music, the characters, the plot is super duper heartwarming. Add the short runtime of the game (around 8 hours if you only play for the main plot and don't do sidequests), I could say that this is such a refreshing bite-sized JRPG that anybody who likes JRPG should at least try to finish once. Oh, and the musical part? I'm not much of a musical fan myself, but I didn't feel like those parts are cringe. In fact, I think they're cute. There's not that many moments where people burst out into a song, but when they do, it's really cute. Totally would recommend playing Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure!

I really wanted to like this game. It's a musical, the characters' designs are cute (except for the main villainnes, what even is this, why), the main rival/friend Etoile is fun, the game in general is quite cute, but... Everything below is written mainly from language lerning perspective: - The main appeal to me was that it's a musical. The songs aren't too frequent, which is fine and understandable. But there is no text when the song is sung!!! Come on! The songs aren't too difficult but it's still would be easier to understand if I could see the lyrics. And I could mine vocabulary from these songs too! - Half of the game time you spend in labyrinths, trying to figure out the right way, while being stopped every two seconds (literally) for a useless battle, that you win just by pressing X a few times. No language, no thinking, no fun. Tepetitive and dull both from gameplay perspective and from language leraning perspective - There are a lot of NPCs that have unique lines of dialogue, which is cool! But most of the environment is not interactable. Come on, give me "it's a table" when I try to interact with the table or something. Would be cool for language learning, especially for beginners. And in general because of it the game world feels empty. Like the objects aren't really there, these are just walls painted like something. - The story isn't very engaging, the characters and their problems don't seem to deep. Which wouldn't be such a big deal if not all of the above, making it completely not worth it - For beginners some of the vocabulary would be difficult. For me it was fine, but just in case you are a beginner, it's won't be particularly easy for you.

This was a very cute game, though a little on the easy side (you can tell this was an early NIS title).

My childhood, fantastic game, sweet, funny and emotional. Gameplay is great and if you need a feel good game, this is it.

Uno de mis muchos juegos favoritos de la infancia, LO AMO, lo he pasado millones de veces y siempre lloro como magdalena a pesar de ello jajajaja que buena historia tiene y las músicas son hermosas (esta solo en ingles y no tiene subtítulos, eso es lo malo, le faltan más idiomas al juego como lo recuerdo en el pasado) pero al menos esta en STEAM, no imagine encontrarlo acá estoy feliz :)

I used to love this game on the DS. im so glad i dont have to search for another copy!
