Might be the most underated game out there, the mechanics are difficult at first but once u get the hang of it its really fun. The story is a bit confusing that part is true but if u pay attention u will actually cry. In conclusion if u want a stylish jrpg with interesting mechanics and a great story this is the game.
A bit of a slow start, and you'll need to get used to the combat, but this seems like a really solid RPG. Can we get a remaster or remake of Folklore? I miss games like this.

Do not judge a book by it's cover. This game's appeal is almost impossible to describe. You may think it's another goofy JRPG with shallow mechanics and rote characters, but think again! It's actually an intricate, clockwork puzzle combat machine.... with rote characters! The way the battle system unfolds is seriously rewarding and engrossing. I can't think of a single reference point for this game, no way to compare it or make it make sense to new players, but once you figure it out it absolutely rules. Everything about the game is a puzzle; the way you navigate the world, the way you build your weapons, the way you attack and move around the battlefield. If you're looking for something different, to scratch a strategic and tactical itch, give this a go. A STONE COLD CLASSIC! (Not easy to get into and the story is gubbins, but who cares when the battle battle system is this good)
I cannot understate this and I mean it in the most literal way possible, there's genuinely not a single line of dialogue that makes any sense and the plot is completely incomprehensible. It's as if all the characters are bipolar and deaf. Which is really weird because the voice acting is relatively good, significantly better than something like FFX. oh and for narrative purposes characters will sometimes just disappear from your party for an entire chapter, good luck figuring out why they're missing. (I consider all of this ^^ as a positive, this is the most fascinating game I have experienced) the world is very grey and dystopian (and that seems to be the intention with the narrative as well), and genuinely interesting, it has so much potential and many unique ideas that unfortunately aren't properly explored which is truly a shame. (OST is WAY too good for this game lol) the gameplay and gun-building is so over the top and outrageously ridiculous that it almost feels like a parody, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't fun. but unfortunately the entire game is like 40h+ of slow and sluggish fetch quests, has a severe lack in "RPG" elements with minimal and boring progression. -which is why (according to steam achievements) 93% of the players quit before beating the game.
TL;DR
Can't recommend this version of End of Eternity bc I cannot save the game .
Otherwise...
(based on my experience playing it elsewhere) It was certainly a fun game, with a terribly presented story .
(NEUTRAL)

The “World”-map is an interesting Steampunk-style Towel of Babel structure that is only explorable if you engage in combat+story to earn hexagon tiles and Access Pass to traverse around + going up-and-down each floor. The verticality of the map is neat but the limited fast travel to only returning to the Base + forcing players to traverse through places and face Random Encounters felt treacherous. If the game didn’t have fun combat, the necessity to engage combat to level up character and earning resources wouldn’t be enough of a justifiable reason for such tedious restriction
The game is poorly introduced, most of the info regarding the gameplay is located in the Arena( where you fight optional challenge trials and earn coins to spend on pretty valuable items ). The gun modifications in the first two chapter is A$$ and does a terrible job preparing me for the mandatory escort mission of the main story quest
.
(PRAISES)

) I had fun with the combat. Leveling up is an aggregate of a character’s usage of Handgun(HG), Machinegun(MG), & Explosives… which compels the player to constantly change turn positions & switch weapon loadouts
Constantly customizing the weapons is as important as Leveling up each character; Linking together firearm parts and especially making nonsense monstrosities, is pretty hilarious( even tho grinding to find the necessary material to craft that gun-part can be a pain in the A$$ )
Building resonance points when a character run pass the in-between gap of two other characters and using those resonance points to perform Tri-attack is really fun
Drip is nice, mostly for Leanne( it’s pretty lame for the other playable characters tho ),but unfortunately she can’t wear the pig shirt and rock a ponytail like in some of the cutscenes
Also, I enjoyed some of the funny slice of life moments in the story and the main cast’s interaction
.
(NITPICKS)

The story as a whole product is nonsense;

explanations of events occurring must be extracted by talking to all of the NPCs each chapter
backstory is mostly inferred and loosely connected by cinematics
characters escalate emotions real quick for internally consistent reasons but the audience didn’t receive enough information( and if there was any, the info is vague AF) to understand why
Themes, topics, and questions about the world is brought to the table but by the end of the game it answers NONE OF THEM

The game touches on topics related to science and theology to bait pretentious YT video essayists to analyze aspects of the game so that one could fully comprehend what happened in this minimalist and poorly presented narrative ( like Shadow of the Colossus or Fromsoftware titles ), without earning it
Retrying a fight costs money unless you decide to load an old save file
Completion of side quest must be done while in the current Chapter, otherwise they’ll be gone if the player advances to the next chapter
Overall... 7/10
