About

Set 15 years before A Plague Tale: Requiem, play as Sophia, a fierce young plunderer, on the run but determined to uncover the secrets of her past. Dive into an original story blending combat, myth and fate with a brand new take in the universe of A Plague Tale.
Sophia’s journey leads to the Minotaur' Island, where she faces deadly trials, navigates treacherous trails, solves puzzles, all while fighting and staying one step ahead of the army chasing her. But the true challenge awaits, as the terrifying creature hidden behind the myth will soon resonate with her…

Sophia is a skilled, agile, and strong-willed fighter who engages in dynamic and violent melee combat. Followed by many enemies, each drawn to the Island to reclaim a mysterious treasure, you must navigate a treacherous maze. Rely on your agility, tricks and sharp reflexes to outsmart enemies, perfect your parries, and unleash powerful strikes to survive deadly encounters.

Shift between the Middle Age of Sophia and ancient Minoan times, where echoes of the past shape the battles of the present. Unfold a new story in the universe of A Plague Tale, through the entwined destinies of two heroes linked by fate and the Macula’s mysterious legacy.

Guided by the knowledge safeguarded in your notebook, follow in your crew’s footsteps to explore a richly detailed world, unravel its secrets, and face deadly trials. Use a stolen Minoan sphere to solve ingenious puzzles by manipulating light - a force woven by Daedalus into the island’s very heart.

It is said that only a few came back from the island. Lurking in the shadows lives a restless presence. It follows you around, seemingly knowing your every move, as it hunts through the island’s depths.
Every step is a risk. Every pause, a potential end. You can’t stop, only hide, outsmart, and push forward. Can you survive each trial and every step or will you join those who never came back?

I want to start this review by saying that my playtime is much longer than what steam shows because I played offline. With that out of the way lets start the review. Resonance: A plague tale legacy is a great game. I've finished the game and I found the story to be good, but not amazing. As it is a prequal with a diffrent protaganist there really isn't much to tie this story to the rest of the series. I found the new cast couldn't live up to the expectations Requiem set. That aside though, the acting is good and the plot is something I felt could be amazing, if these characters were given more time to develop. The gameplay is where I think this game really shines, especially in comparison with the previous entries into the series. Both a plague tale innocence and requiem were highly scripted affairs with very little scope for player expression through gameplay; Resonance is a huge improvement in this area. The player is allowed to run and jump and explore small semi-open areas and climb objects in a non scripted way. I also really enjoyed the combat. I've seen many reviews calling it shallow, but I don't believe that to be true; sure the moveset of the player character is limited, but to compensate for this combat is challenging and fast paced. It feels like a combination of God of war 2018 and Sekiro, but much more stripped down. My biggest complaint with this game is it's length; It's too short. I very rarely say this because most developers bloat out their games with unneeded padding, ruining the pace of the story and gameplay. Resonance is the opposite extreme of this. Characters are not given enough time to develop and too much of this game's short runtime is spent on solving puzzles, which do not feel connected to the plot. Despite the games shortcomings, Resonance: a plague tale legacy is a game i'm glad I purchased. I hate to use the phrase, but in its totality Resonance feels like a better game than the sum of it's parts. It's positive qualities are hard to describe, I suppose the adventure of exploring a mythical island is the games greatest concept, which is also well executed.

Is it different from the previous games? Yes. Is it as epic as the previous games? Yes. Again, it's a fantastic cinematic ride. Plus, the game is much better optimized than the previous game.
