Up-tempo adventuring and family drama ensue when the survivors of a disastrous charity project return to the dead ships in the former Aral Sea in Uzbekistan. Very interesting and different setting. That alone makes it worth it. The graphics are beautiful, pulling you into this strange ambience. Although it looks simple, it's also very immersive both storywise and atmospherically. It's definitely different and worth it for someone looking for a fresh experience.
Very interesting game. The platforming does have some interesting elements but occasionally it can feel a little bit clunky. The setting was quite unique and taught me a lot about the Aral sea, which I knew nothing about previously. It made me go and read up about it. Fascinating stuff. Short game but worth a try at it's price!
If you enjoy randomly flickering and ugly controls be my guest
Yikes! Not even sure how I ended up with this game but it has it all! Nasty controls, ugly art, randomly flickers on my screen. It most likely is not dual screen friendly I take it. The gameplay is horrendous. The voice acting sounds like it was done in a bunker. There are free games better than this.
4/10 - Points rewarded for trying I guess

Check out my curated list of games
Bare bones review Interesting concept from the get go; the main menu is actually part of the game. This is both good and bad because while it increases immersion, it also is time consuming in and of itself because, there it is, another because, you have to walk around the ship for everything; settings, archive (aka load save game), language (represented by flags on the ship), exit and so forth. OK that's all for now more later. 6/10 Score subject to change.
The good:
+ Unique location and atmosphere + Reasonably good physics + Nice soundtrack
The bad:
- Frustrating to try to figure out where I'm supposed to go next, ended up going in circles multiple times - Single interaction button, so your character might throw a grappling hook when you just wanted to read a piece of paper - Really badly written characters and dialogue - Also really bad voice acting with over-the-top Russian accents
Final thoughts:
The game is not without merit, but overall it was more frustrating than enjoyable. Dropped it after ~50 mins.
Residue: Final Cut is a genuinely fascinating piece of interactive environmental storytelling set against the real-world ecological tragedy of the Aral Sea — the subject matter alone makes it worth a look. You play three characters with distinct abilities (a nimble boy, a slow old man with a flashlight, and an engineer with a grappling hook), and while the mechanics are rough around the edges — the grappling hook in particular feels unreliable and navigation can leave you wandering aimlessly — the atmospheric visuals and surprisingly strong soundtrack kept me pushing forward. The story is the heart of it, and it mostly delivers, weaving together personal histories against the backdrop of a man-made environmental disaster in a way that feels thoughtful rather than preachy. That said, the voice acting ranges from passable to genuinely grating, some dialogue choices are baffling, and if you're here for solid platforming you'll be disappointed. At its short runtime of two to three hours, if you snag it in a bundle or on sale and have any interest in narrative-driven games tackling real-world topics, it's worth experiencing despite its rough edges — just go in with calibrated expectations.
