Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

RE 96 on GOG is better. No additional areas destroying the perfect flow, no crimson head mechanics, no change to the puzzles, more charm. This 2002 Gamecube remake is overrated.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 12: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

You ever know something is classic and was a genre defining piece, but not end up very impressed with it beyond that when you actually go to engage with it yourself? Happened to me with Star wars. I acknowledge that the OG movies were novel for their time but they aren't actually anything special now. Resident Evil was not one of those. The puzzles are lengthy, tedious and nonsense in a way only videogames can be but that's just the rules of engagement. But the atmosphere? The horror. Such good horror. Also feels like my childhood home. Good times. If you're only going to play one of the characters though I recommend Jill. I don't know why but her cutscenes were just better written.
watching the doors open simulator This game didnt age well. I played it and beaten it 100% cause i really wanted to get into the RE series so i thought i should start with the first game. That was a mistake lol. The inventory system is the worst, every item takes up space in your inventory, so assuming youre playing as Chris (you will have 6 inventory spaces) if you have one gun, ammo for the gun, and one medkit then you already lost half of your inventory, and you want to keep atleast one space empty if you find a new puzzle item. So if you find a puzzle in the game and you dont know what item you need to use you need to you run back to the chest put back the items that dont work, take two new item and run back to see if maybe it will work. Running around this giant house takes forever, since every time you go from room to room you need to watch a 6 second door opening animation which gets old so fast it makes you want to rip your hair out. If you want to get into RE just start with the remake of the second game, and if you really want to beat this one, do it with a guide, and maybe some mod that deletes the door animations.
Rating: 9.3/10 Resident Evil is a survival horror game that follows members of the S.T.A.R.S. team as they investigate a series of mysterious murders and become trapped inside a terrifying mansion filled with deadly creatures and hidden secrets. Players explore interconnected environments, solve intricate puzzles, manage limited resources, and fight horrifying enemies while gradually uncovering the truth behind the mansion and its sinister experiments. The game blends tense exploration, strategic combat, and environmental storytelling to create a defining survival horror experience. The game's unforgettable atmosphere, clever level design, and constant sense of tension have made it a timeless classic. Every room presents meaningful decisions regarding ammunition, healing items, and exploration, while the carefully paced progression keeps players engaged from beginning to end. Although the fixed camera angles and classic control scheme may feel dated to some newcomers, Resident Evil remains an outstanding choice for players who enjoy survival horror, challenging resource management, and suspenseful exploration.
