About
It was all going so well.
One day the world’s experiencing a golden age of technology, the next it’s forcibly merged with an alternate dimension. It happens.
Now there’s a new reality, a world between worlds: The Bast.
Remnants of the Rift is a roguelite tactics game where you can pause, plan, and play. You are Morgan, dimension-diving merc, delving deeper and deeper into The Bast at the request of the factions looking to exploit this new reality.
But you’re going to need help to survive in the depths. Help, and a whole lot of skill.
Remnants of the Rift combines the tactics of grid-based strategy with the thrills of an action game. Each level plays out in real-time, but you can pause the game to assess the battlefield, prep your attacks and plan your next move. Use mods and equipment to enhance your preferred style of play and overcome your interdimensional foes.

Every dive is different: change your strategies on the fly to counter a dimension in flux. Study each of the procedurally-generated battles and adapt to by customizing your playstyle to defeat all enemies and reap the bountiful rewards. But don’t worry, death isn’t the end. So head home, re-equip, and dive back in.

You’re not alone on your journey into The Bast. As a mercenary, you’ll deal with close associates and vying factions: everyone wants a piece of this new reality. But going deeper means getting better, and you’ll have to create unlikely alliances to procure the equipment you need to explore further.

The game is quite fun, the story seems interesting and the premise as well. The art is very beautiful and charming. The characters seem interesting and have their own personalities. The skills are varied and gives way for rather interesting plays. The controls are quite difficult and not very intuitive, WASD to move in an isometric grid takes a little bit to get used to but isn't that bad. Personally I feel like the skills should have been binded to separate keys instead of being rotated through, especially since the left hand is the only one used. Using ESC to confirm in some cases goes against conventional practices, etc. I enjoyed the game and might play it more in the future. TLDR: If you can get past the controls and you like rougelites then you'll like this game.

Y me cuentas qué tal. Yo le eché mano a la historia.
Check this game out if you're into grid-based movement + time pausing action. There's something about the game play that feels satisfying when you destroy enemies using time-pause along with the current skills offered at the moment. The art and style is going for a retro look and I think it pulls it off nicely. Due to this game being Early Access, not much of the story is revealed. I look forward to learning more about Morgan, the world of Remnants of the Rift and the Bast. Please note that the game needs polish and fixing as it's in Early Access. Even though this is the case, it's still very playable and enjoyable. If you're interested in seeing how the game currently plays in Early Access, please see my video: https://youtu.be/rPvZ7121l4E
Everyone is praising the visual style and the music of this game for a good reason, they are great. But you can have 4+ enemies on the screen at the same time with 2 health or more, slowing tiles and all of your skills do 1 damage. Even with the possibility of the enemies clearing each other out, the amount of damage upgrades is not enough at the moment. If the developer ever adjusts the damage numbers the game has fantastic potential.
It takes a bit of getting used to the controls but once you get the hang of it, it's very addictive. The gameplay is good and visually it's a very nice game, the interface, the character and level design along with the music blend perfectly. The upgrades are very interesting and invite you to experiment with different strategies or even use them for other things besides attacking the enemies. Some enemies can be a bit annoying because of the speed with which they attack the modulator and the first boss fight can be almost impossible to complete if you let too much time pass but it's doable. The characters and setting of the game are very creative, I can't wait to see what they have in store for the full game!
Has combat that reminds of the Megaman battle network series.
