About

Jack's monkey has escaped holdings and has thrashed the store. Now he needs you to sleeve all the vinyl records into their jackets and then restored back to their correct musical genre's storage crates!
The monkey (named after Jack himself) got his hands on all 20 genres of vinyl records, and has tossed hundreds of vinyl records and their jackets all over the place!

Re:Store the Record Store is an atmospheric sorting game set in a cozy indie vinyl record store.

Featuring over 1000 vinyl records and jackets to pick up, sleeve and resorted back into the crates where they belong! A day-night cycle alters the shop's atmosphere. Take your time sorting and storing the records! It's not a game to rush through. Or you could if you want to, with abilities such as Genre Glance, Crate Chaser and more!

Pick up vinyl records and jackets in first person perspective, slide the vinyl satisfyingly into the correct jacket and then put them back into crates. Made a mistake? You can extract the sleeved vinyl as well!

Key Features:

Interactive objects: There's a cool looking gramophone on the counter top! It must have been placed there for a reason.
Hidden secrets: The game doesn't end at sorting all the vinyl records, there are additional things to do to get Steam achievements. What are they? You're gonna have to play and find out!

Okay the reason i refunded your game is because 1. No brightness Scale / Slider - Game is wayyy to dark, i can't see 2. Un omptimized, my GPU 3080 shouldn't be needing full power for a sorting game, my pc sounds like a jet engine 3. In game menu, what i mean is having a menu when in your save 4. I need a tutorial button, i accidentally clicked off it and i couldn't see what i was meant to do 5. The game kept bricking itself whenever i clicked ESC and moved the mouse off the monitor too fast Open to trying your game again, i'll attatch my pc specs to the review :)
First, after playing the game for a bit and looking at all the vinyl artwork and names, I don't believe for a second that no ai was used. Second, the game just is not ready for release. It takes minutes for changing the game volume to take effect, when I press escape to pause the game, I can't click on anything or use escape again and have to alt f4. The game also breaks if you alt tab too fast. If you pick up a record after putting it in the correct spot, you can't put it back onto the shelf and you can't throw it down until you pick up a random vinyl from the floor. And the abilities are just not great nor can you upgrade them like in other sorting games. You get abilities by finding notes around but two of abilities are essentially the same thing just swapped which is the ability to see on the ground the item you're looking for. Every other sorting game I've played has included far more abilities and the ability to upgrade them. The worst thing though is once you find abilities, when you close the game and come back later, all your abilities are gone and you have to re-find every note to get your abilities back. It's a fantastic concept but as of right now it is very poorly executed.

The atmosphere is absolutely perfect. Feels very tactile, very nostalgic. I wish I could play it. There is no AZERTY support. No rebind keys options. Options only accessible from main menu, not in-game. These ABSOLUTELY need to be added. Unacceptable for any game to not have these options. I tried setting my mouse sensitivy lower, to 0.6. I applied my changes, then it turned it down to 0.4 automatically. I turned it back up to 0.6, then it turned it to 0.2. I turnedi t back to 0.6, now it's at 0.0. And then I couldn't et back out of the menu. That is... not intended, right? At this point, I could literally not play the game as it kept my mouse sensitivity at 0, rendering me unable to move. This should not be a bug that makes it into a full release.
With the surge of cleaning and organizing games, I wouldn't recommend this one. There is a balance between atmosphere and theming that is clashing with what makes these kinds of cleaning games fun and intuitive for me. In most cleaning games, you would find most items on the floor and there is something that you can piece together as to which items go together or where it's supposed to go (eg: shoes are going to go in the shoe section for Supermarket Chaos. red books are either going to go into Psychology or Healing for Arcane Library). This game misses that because every item, for the most part, is a parody on a real artist and a real album meaning that I'm not looking for red albums to put into the Rock section, I am instead matching items 1 to 1 to sort them. This is fine, but again, not the kind of loop that I'm looking for when it comes to cleaning games. If this doesn't seem to bother you, then I may suggest a try. Holding both a vinyl and a record also makes it so that you're looking through a narrow sliver in your screen so it becomes really slow actually trying to find matching pairs and I just have to go one or 2 at a time. To add onto this, the game is set in a cozy record store with a day night cycle. While realistic, it does not lend itself well to actually cleaning. The sections are cramped and I find myself hitting the stairs often when trying to walk around and look for something. The day night cycle also makes it so that sometimes it gets really dark and you cannot actually read the vinyls or see the designs properly. I would like an option where this can be turned off. Speaking of settings, there is no way to access the settings while in the actual game-- you have to exit to the main menu to adjust anything. Pressing ESC also causes the game to crash, I've found. The controls are a bit complicated even to someone playing on a keyboard, and there is no way that I've found to remap them. The music also doesn't immediately adjust or change volume after changing, and it takes going into the menu a few times for it to take effect. --EDIT: game now stays stuck on loading game.. when trying to go into previous save. I will continue playing the game because I enjoy the genre, but I would keep an eye on patch notes to see if these bugs get fixed and if you think it is still worth the purchase.
bought this game as soon as it came out and i'm super excited to play. however i have come across a bug in which when trying to change my settings in the game, for whatever reason it seems to lower my sensitivity, and then save it and then whenever i try to change it back to normal, it won't save (even when i click apply) when i then click to go back it asks if i want to discard changes which puts me in a loop. if i then give up and click yes discard, it seems to lower my sensitivity again, to the point that my sens is now at 0.0 and i can't play the game 😭 as soon as this is fixed and i can play i would be more than happy to update my review and let people know whether i recommend it or not! i understand this is a mostly solo dev indie project so im obviously going to give the game some grace! but as of now if you want to play i recommend not changing ANY of the settings! edit: another bug i've found is getting locked into a crate (if im trying to remove a record i've accidentally put in for example) it can freeze and it lets me swap through the records but wont let me extract the record OR back out, the only way to fix this is force close the game however this can cause you to lose some save data :( all in all i would say there are too many bugs to recommend the game for now, but after a few patches/updates, i really do think this will be a great game.
Good addition to the new trend of Pick-Up-Sticks simulators. Would love a setting to check/change the controls, and when/how the skills get unlocked. Solo Dev communicating with bug reports and changing things is something you don't see a lot of, so kudos to that :)
EDIT---Since posting my review the solo developer of the game has gone back and fixed all the aforementioned bugs. So I am changing my review. I really enjoyed my time playing this, even with the bugs people have already mentioned. -Game Freezing with hitting ESC to open the menu and losing progress -Music not being able to be turned off -Getting stuck in the crate when browsing through it My big problem is the game is impossible to finish currently. I have 2 New Age vinyls that are unable to fit in the New Age crates as all positions are filled, and yes i did look through and make sure every album is the correct genre. I am also at 556/565 sorted and i am left with 4 vinyls and 6 sleeves and none of them match up to complete and shelve. So short of starting over again and completing the game in one continuous sitting there is no way to fully finish the game.
Whenever I try to pause the game it hits fatal error and the setting adjustments don't adjust anything, so the music is still just blasting full volume. After a fatal error the game hasn't saved so it just resets completely. It's entirely unplayable.
Lovely game! One of my favourites in the genre so far. Feels a bit more challenging, slightly slower paced paced and more meditative than some of the others I've played, since you have to find matching records before organizing them away. I really enjoyed that part of it, it feels like some of these games are designed so you don't actually have to do much sorting, just pushing the power buttons - so it's really nice to play one that's actually designed for people who actually want to organize things rather than just have the computer do it for them I had a couple of small issues with stuff like the menu being a little wonky, but the dev is actively working on improving the game, so an easy recommend from me if you love these kinds of games!
I'm sorry to say, while this game seems to have a lot of potential, I just don't enjoy it. The matching an album to a sleeve before I can file it is overwhelming. I wanted to be able to just pick stuff up and categorize it. But that's just a personal preference, that might not bother everyone. There also needs to be access to settings from the game and not from the main menu with separate volume controls for different sounds. Let me turn the music down alone. And the loud clomping of footsteps was also very overwhelming. It sounds like the character is stomping their feet every time they take a step. It's too loud. I had to exit the game for a bit, as well, and when I loaded it back up I had my hands full of albums and sleeves and when I went to try to put them down or away the keys didn't work. I had to start a new game because it just broke. There's a lot of work that needs to be done, here. I just can't enjoy it as it is.
