Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

I grew up on Rachet, really enjoyed the series although I found it challenging at 8 years old. I played all PS2 games. I remember the performance of the first Rachet PS3 game being horrendous, I couldn't stand the minute long loading times every 5 minutes. I tried the next in the PS3 series, worse, more annoying, characters seemed weird. Returned it to GameStop within the hour. Lost all interest in the new releases, stuck to the classics. I finally grew interested in this game after seeing the reviews and movie-like graphics, I'm glad I did. Sure as a fan of the originals I have a few gripes. The elementary quippy writing, character portrayal, not very challenging, the FAR too frequent AWFUL F*ing spider bot that will never stfu. But you can skip it, skip other puzzles, skip movies and I appreciated this after my first playthrough. In terms of overall gameplay this game is seriously fun, visually stunning and the control/movement feels great, maybe as responsive as the old games. Really feels like this was one of those groundbreaking next gen games for PS5. Although I feel confident most people at any skill level will have fun with this game, I precaution that I have run into game breaking glitches many times on this port, I recommend saving frequently.

This is such a fun game!! I love how full and vibrant it feels — it's quirky core, cinematic EVERYTHING (wear headphones — you'll thank me later), humorous tones, colourful and rich worlds, engaging story, and dynamic, rewarding combat takes you in and lets you live in its universe. Everything feels so alive, and being able to stop to take photos in-game makes it even more personal and captivating. R&C has always been an inviting franchise, and whether this will be your introduction to the universe or not, Rift Apart is a beautiful experience and absolutely worth playing even if you're remotely interested!

The game is amazing, it even performs well on my laptop (once messed around with the settings and used fsr.) I will say there are some REALLY smart people over at Insomniac, even on the lowest settings it looks great. 10/10.

It's been a while since I've played a Ratchet & Clank game, but it feels just as good to play as it as it once was. The story is nothing special, but it does facilitate a pretty fun adventure. It's incredibly satisfying to collect golden bolts and to level up your arsenal of weapons. The hover boots are always fun and they feel incredible in this game, and the phantom dash is a great addition that allows for some cool platforming as well as some evasion in combat. All in all, I wouldn't say this game is a masterpiece, but it's definitely a fun ride worth your time. Wether you're a returning Ratchet & Clank player or new to the franchise, I think you'll have a good time with this one.
