Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
A Beautiful Return to the Lombax Universe
I've played pretty much every Ratchet & Clank game, and the original Trilogy and Gladiator are still my favorites. So naturally, Rift Apart had a lot to live up to. And while it doesn't quite reach the same heights as those games for me, it's still a fantastic Ratchet & Clank experience.
Gameplay
The gameplay is exactly what I wanted from a modern Ratchet & Clank. The gunplay feels great, movement is fluid, and the amount of destruction happening on screen is exactly the kind of ridiculous spectacle I've come to expect from the series. The addition of the Phantom Dash is also a great improvement to movement, making combat feel faster and more responsive.
The Arsenal
The arsenal is pretty good. There are plenty of creative and fun weapons to use, and they look absolutely spectacular thanks to the game's visual effects. However, compared to the original PS2/PS3 games, I found the arsenal a little less iconic. The older games had weapons that were not only fun to use, but also completely absurd and instantly memorable. Rift Apart has some great weapons, but I don't think they reach quite the same level of madness and personality as some of the classics.
Bosses
The bosses look fantastic and there are some genuinely spectacular encounters. However, this is another area where I think the older games did better. Some of the bosses in Rift Apart are visually impressive, but the actual fights aren't always as deep or memorable as I would have liked. Considering how good the combat system is, I expected some more creative and challenging boss encounters.
World & Visuals
This is easily one of the best-looking Ratchet & Clank games ever made. The environments are colorful, detailed and full of life, and the transition between dimensions is an impressive technical achievement. The game constantly looks like an animated movie while still feeling like a Ratchet & Clank game.
Characters & Story
I really enjoyed seeing Ratchet again. Rivet is also a great addition to the series. She has her own personality and story, and I liked seeing her relationship with Ratchet develop throughout the game. Clank and Kit also work well together, and the story has plenty of the humor and charm that define the series.
Clank & Puzzles
The Clank sections are probably one of the weaker aspects for me. They aren't bad, but compared to the older games, I found the puzzle sections less enjoyable and less memorable. The original games had some Clank sections that I genuinely looked forward to. Here, they felt more like something I had to get through before returning to the main gameplay.
Difficulty
Coming from the older Ratchet & Clank games, I also found Rift Apart quite easy. Even on the higher difficulties, the game rarely feels particularly punishing. The combat is fun and satisfying, but I would have appreciated a greater challenge, especially in some of the later encounters and boss fights. For me, the game could have pushed the player a little harder.
Music & Atmosphere
The soundtrack fits the game perfectly. It captures that classic Ratchet & Clank feeling while still sounding modern, and the combination of music, sound effects and visual design makes every planet feel incredibly lively.
Final Thoughts
Rift Apart is a fantastic modern Ratchet & Clank game. It looks incredible, plays extremely well and manages to preserve the identity of the series while bringing it into the modern era. As someone who has played almost the entire series, I still prefer the original trilogy. Their weapons, bosses, difficulty and overall personality left a stronger impression on me. But Rift Apart is still a beautiful, fun and extremely polished return to one of my favorite gaming series. 8.5/10 A great Ratchet & Clank game, even if the classics still hold a special place in my heart.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 30: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
