Nice management game to try yourself in logistics for a couple of days, although it could be better. Railway Empire, while focusing on train logistics lacks some tools to make this process more comfortable, thus making gameplay repetitively boring at some point. For example laying parallel tracks at the moment when you build it would be so much better with road templates. Instead game wants you to build first track, then build second and parallel, only then allowing you to use semaphores and even then something can go buggy and force you rebuilt the whole thing from time to time... And if you disable 'realistic' roads and will allow every train to run through each other - bots will turn into chess grand-master AI and will abuse the system so well, that they gonna win the game before you even start, so good luck!

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This game made my brain hurt at first. Took a bit to learn switching and such to optimize track layouts but after that its pretty fun. The only thing I really don't like is the competitors since they force you to play at a faster pace than I wish to and you have AI blocking your tracks and such which is just annoying.
Estou jogando no linux CachyOs. Roda liso, plug and play. Não precisei configurar nada.
Its realy nice to play
I was expecting an enjoyable simulator experience, but the building and buying was confusing (not knowing when I had bought the train since once clicking "buy" opens another window where I guess the buying actually happens, but eg. industry buying is one click only). The railroad building was clunky and while it was quick to offer building options, the twists and turns in the track were not intuitive most of the time. Also, the tutorial was a bit buggy already, so I don't know if the actual game would be weird like that later on. Not sure what the aim of the game was. Building railroad and buying different trains seemed important, but the industry part felt shallow. Maybe it was because I didn't get that far, but maybe it should be something that is open from the beginning so it would keep me invested. It's a beautiful game and I think it was fun in theory, but the UI was not for me.
Pretty cool game, if you're looking for a more modern experience, have a look at Railway Empire 2.
Railway Empire is a game I recommend, but mainly for a specific type of player. If you love trains, management games, and optimizing systems, this game can easily become addictive. But if you’re looking for fast action or something casual, it might feel slow and overwhelming. The biggest strength of Railway Empire is how satisfying it feels to build your own network and watch it grow. Starting with a few small lines and slowly turning them into a massive transportation empire is extremely rewarding. It gives you that “one more route” feeling, where you constantly want to expand, improve efficiency, and dominate the market. The economy system is also deeper than it looks at first. It’s not only about placing tracks: you need to think about supply and demand, production chains, and connecting the right cities with the right resources. When everything starts working perfectly and your trains are running nonstop making profit, the game feels amazing. Another great part is the atmosphere. The map design, the locomotives, and the time periods give the game a lot of charm. Seeing your trains crossing landscapes, tunnels, bridges, and cities really makes the game feel alive. It’s also one of those games where you can play in a relaxed way just enjoying the simulation… or you can go full competitive and try to crush the AI. That being said, the game has flaws. Sometimes the AI can feel annoying or unfair, the micromanagement can become heavy later in the game, and some mechanics aren’t always well explained. The game can also feel repetitive after many hours because most missions follow the same structure: expand, optimize, connect, repeat. And if you make a mistake early, it can slow down your entire run. But overall, Railway Empire is a great strategy/management game. It’s not perfect, but if you enjoy the idea of building an efficient railroad network, managing trade, and watching your empire expand across the map, it’s absolutely worth playing.
The game is challenging to the point of frustration at times but frequent saves and thinking ahead a bit eventually win out. It is quite satisfying to watch several trains moving along the tracks, not stopping except for supplies, passengers and cargo, when the track is properly designed. That's the part I like best. Then I can rest :)
Very playable game. I've played rail games for years and this one brings me back time and time again. Good economy, fairly intuitive game play, and excellent tutorials in game, helpful for beginners and pros alike. A great game in my opinion.
