You are Ranger, a warrior armed with a powerful arsenal of weapons. QUAKE is one of the most important video games of all time, and this Nightdive Studio's remaster of QUAKE is the definitive way to experience it. I cannot recommend this game enough. You get the original LEGENDARY CAMPAIGN, which is one of the best boomer shooter experiences of all time. You get two old, but great expansions: SCOURGE OF ARMAGON, and DISSOLUTION OF ETERNITY. Some of my favorite content in the game are the later two expansions: DIMENSION OF THE PAST and DIMENSION OF THE MACHINE, both of which were developed by legendary Machine Games (of modern Wolfenstein and Indiana Jones fame). Dimension of the Machine was released alongside this remaster and it contains some of the greatest levels I have ever played in a boomer shooter. There are a few levels I'm not crazy about, but consistently, QUAKE and its expansions contain absolutely stunning and crazy FUN LEVELS. Quake's weapons are awesome, its enemies are scary, dangerous and downright iconic, and its art style has never looked better than in this remaster with its updated lighting effects. QUAKE's atmosphere is chilling, and its one of my favorite elements of this game. This includes the famed NINE INCH NAILS soundtrack created for this game, and it is synonymous with QUAKE's identity. Legendary music tracks and vibes. You also get splitscreen and online multiplayer, campaign co-op, deathmatch, capture the flag and horde mode, the latter two of which were released post-launch. QUAKE has LEGENDARY MULTIPLAYER and you should experience it. Added in this remaster is the ability to download single player add-ons through Bethesda. One of which is the QUAKE 64 port, which is a really nice addition. QUAKE really is that game, and its game engine would be modified and used in many FPS' for years to come. This game, its development and its effects on the industry are super fascinating, and I have been really enjoying learning about it mainly through youtube video essays. PLAY QUAKE

One of the most influential games ever made, and still a ton of fun to play. All of the official campaigns are great (♥♥♥♥ Episode 4 of the base game, however), multiplayer rules, and the vast collection of 3rd party content stretching back 30 years effectively means you have an endless selection of maps and modes. (Try the original Team Fortress; it's still way better than TFC, TF2, or Overwatch) The remaster is solid.

One of my all-time favorites. I've been playing it since its original release. The new, 30th anniversary update is great. The levels have been clever, and the new mechanics of gradual upgrades is refreshing.

The SP campaign never hit me quite as hard as Doom 2, but the MP is the f*ing godmother of LAN 32-player matched. F*, I miss the 90s...
