This game after 7 year recently got an update. That alone is worth a positive review. Also it's great fun. Reinstalling now.

Pixel Piracy is a game that is, admittedly, hard to get into at first. When you start, you must learn almost fully on your own exactly what to do and how to do it. However, as time goes on and as you learn more mechanics of the game it becomes increasingly more enjoyable. You begin to build and flesh out your crew and you begin to care for their well-beings as you wage war against the other inhabitants of the sea. If you enjoy games that allow you to build and maintain an army, then this is the game for you! Just be patient with it in the beginning.
Прикольная игра , хренова что нет Русского языка!
Abandoned game with game breaking bugs still present. 1/10
It's comical how bad of a game this is, it's like the person that made it managed to reach the absolute bare minimum of functionality. Was gonna try and go for the last achievements when the game decided that it was gonna replace my second saved game with my first. I was really confused cause there is no manual saving, I went into the wrong save, exited and then went into the other and noticed that I how have two of the first save file. I have no idea how that happened, even checking the game shows it didn't save recently. Last saves were from the night before, so there's something iffy with the game itself. The game itself is riddled with problems, one of the worst is the island jumping mechanics. If you try to go to another island and you get an encounter on the way, it lets you off at a "filler" location after the encounter regardless of if you fight or flee from it. My big problem here is that if you are close enough to the location and you have the encounter, the temporary location covers up the place you were going to. I have had several times when I needed to make two extra trips, one to get to an adjacent location and another to get to the place I wanted to go to before the temp location temporarily swallowed it up. I am not fond of the weapon system, I think it's really stupid that you have to switch out someone's weapon for a tool just to be able to use that tool. Why not just have a tool slot so that my captain can have a shovel there without having to use a f*****g shovel as a weapon. Same goes for the crew that became assigned fisherman. why not just give them a tool slot to put the fishing rod in. I really hate the UI, it's so bad it's horrendous. It managed to be absurdly oversimplistic at the same time being way too bloated. Idk why there's so much empty space in the parts about the pirates. The window about the equipment and items is absurdly small, it could have easily been expanded and the pirate UI info be better oriented to avoid having such a large part of the screen be empty. Some of the AI behaviour is also very garbage, pirates still at times fall overboard trying to get onto the ship, they space out randomly and ignore everything around them. The crew system is crap cause you need to make them as crewmembers for them to even do stuff like clean poop or repair the ship. They can't just be assigned to things like training, they have to be in the training group. Another irk is the knockback, Ive had quite a few pirates get knocked into the water due to trying to get onto an island and the enemy weapons just knocking them back a bunch. At the same time, it sucks knocking enemies into the water cause that's lost exp. Animals are still pretty garbage, only the captain can move them cause the animals can't be diretly moved and the crew are too mentally stunted to move animals. You can't sell animals and they aren't really worth keeping as guardians against boarding parties, only thing almost all animals seem capable of doing is being manure factories, something bound to drag down the morale. The whole way of capturing animals was quite annoying as well, thanks to the random elements of the game. The fact that you can get screwed from having basic equipment like animal cages just because of RNG, that kinda sucks hard. In my first save that I have, I struggled forever to find fishing as a skill book, I eventually got it as a drop, I could never find a store that sold it cause of bad rng. Same thing with some items, you can get screwed over getting a fishing rod if you get unlucky with the armory's you find. I hate the morale system, morale still goes down way too f*****g fast, on the save that I had overridden I had 7 pirates for a long time, when I decided to add an eight pirate, it made the morale even worse. Some of the times, it's their own pea-sized brain making them stand in the rain, just to catch fish like the flesh robots they are. Other times, I have no idea why it goes down as fast as it does. Good thing I was abusing the whole barrel loot thing, cause I was ending up having to constantly bribe my pirates to stop being debby downers. In short, the game sucks, the systems are too simplistic, the UI is horribly made, the travel system is also garbage. The animal system is mostly a waste of time (only good animals seem to be cats and spiders). I can't recommend this game, not even on a discount. Edit: having 100% the game, I wish to add a few more points, one of them is the utter lack of information. Before the game ate my save, I was trying to understand the whole "clearing camps" thing, not like the game had any info other than X/X meaning numbers of camps cleared and numbers of camps that existed in total. I would have found out, if not the game's p!ss poor programming stopped me, during my first playthrough I cleared 6 out of 8 camps, something happened with one of the camps so despite me clearing it, it didn't register as cleared. Do the camps even have any point of existing other than being loads of enemies in one place, I have no idea cause there's literally no info about them. More gripes that I have is that when you switch between characters, you need to go back down in the items list to get to whatever item you wanted. There's also no search or filter for items, that would have made it allot more manageable if you could filter out so you only saw one category of items (like when I tried finding medicine to cure the flu or ringworms).
When I purchased this game, I did not realize it wasn't being updated anymore. I have played it a few different times over the past few years and it always ends the same. I love the concept, but the execution doesn't do it justice. Every time I start to get into the groove of the games, it bugs out and I have to restart it. I would highly recommend it if it was stable, and I think most others would as well. I'm not even mad at the bugs. I'm frustrated that such a good idea was left in such sad state.
abaondonware
Abandonware, unfinished.
Pixel Piracy is very much a broken and unfinished game. However, it is also one that I enjoyed playing enough that in spite of its flaws, I cannot review in the negative. And those flaws are HUGE. If only for the bug where sometimes your crew will simply stop moving, and refuse to acknowledge any orders (which when happens off-ship can leave you stranded) However, with the cheats listed in the highest reviewed guide, you can sidestep that (or even full on "fix" it) simply by teleporting all your crew back to your ship. So why a positive review in spite of bugs that require full on cheating to get around? Because the gameplay itself is and was fun, in spite of that. And at it's price (Especially if you get it on sale) it was worth more per hour enjoyment than most "high class" games such as Halo, or such. Now if only the developers had finished it.... Some tips for those new players who chose to buy it despite its flaws: Pirate wages are decided by their stats at hire. Hire low stat worthless pirates and level them up. Your captain is the only one capable of digging, or transporting animals (though anyone carrying the right gear can capture animals, only the captain seems able to carry) You will probably want a dedicated fisher. And a cook. Infinite food there. Though you will also want to buy Fruit, Citrus, and Watermelon to deal with scurvy. Your ultimate goal is a pirate ship in each corner. You can beat each with a well built crew in the 30s for levels (though you can expect to lose some) level cap is 255. There are different styles of pirates in each area of the map. Vikings. Asian. More. Many different kinds and styles. Only real difference is style Most guns need ammunition. Your pirates won't fire their pistols unless they have ammunition equipped. Cannons need specified training AND ammunition. You will probably want cannons. There is a reason one section of your crew is specified for their use. TLDR? Game is very much an unfinished mess. But still can be worth it for its price. Especially on sale. Edit to the above. I say the game is broken and unfinished, but it would probably be more accurate to say it is unpolished (EXTREMELY unpolished) as the game is very much beatable
