Reviews
The game loop is all right, but it gets rather repetitive after a while. It also starts to lag really badly towards the late game, to the point where it gets really difficult to play.
Broken and abandoned for almost 8 years, dev thinks they can come back and win points for small patches to fix a still broken game on top of increasing the price, dont support bad devs like this and stay away

This game was AMAZING .... when it first came out. Then decision after decision, the game devolved, became more unstable, and now is just a worse game overall, I can not recommend this title.
Decent game, Dev said he'd start working on it again, hasnt updated it in over a year. it's got a charm and it was fun enough but it feels unfinished and it seems like it's going to stay that way. Really interesting idea but it could be a lot better, someone dedicated should lift some mechanics from this game and make a similar but full version. I'd say it's not worth $15 but it is fun enough if you want do spend a few hours beating it, interesting visuals
I've had this game for years. Barely played when I first bought it. Now I know why. It is really unfortunate how unfinished this game feels even coming up on ten years after release. Pros: Cool customization of ship and crew Lots of "biomes" and themes around the edges of the map. Weapon system with the potential for lots of depth. Developer console and cheats are usable. I just like having the sandbox element of an in-game console. Cons: Game gets repetitive FAST. Crew stats don't scale well. Quickly it becomes better to just hire new crew with hundreds of hitpoints instead of grinding up your starting crew. Lots of bugs: in-game text feed that tells you what treasure you find crashes after it reaches the top of the screen. Comes back sometimes but I can't tell what makes the difference. Lags quickly with bigger crew/ship. Lots of audio spikes when more than one sound effect plays at once. Only your captain can interact with most objects. So you often have to put them in danger or drag them through the enemy ship after the battle. The worst part is you have very limited control of your captain, they are barely more responsive than your crew, often charging into danger or wandering off mid fight instead of following your inputs. BIG Problems: Travelling on the map sucks. It's more efficient to travel more than one space at once, but if your path ever crosses an enemy or even a *neutral* ship, you are interrupted, even if you don't fight them. Often after escaping an encounter, the map requires you to put in the command twice in order to start moving again. This is one of many situations where your inputs don't register due to a bug. Characters have lots of stats with the potential for depth, but it doesn't live up to its potential. Not all stat changes are actually listed in game (for example Dex increases attack frequency I believe.) Many weapons to choose from but most are just suboptimal. Lots of style but not much else to encourage you to use a variety of weapons. Then there's the problem of weapon rank. Every weapon you get starts at rank 1, and they level up very slowly in combat. There are Grindstones you can find that you spend to increase the rank, except they only work X% of the time, and the probability decreases as the rank gets higher. These grindstones are also quite rare. In 10 hours on this save I've only found 5 or 6. Most weapons have a max rank of 30 or 50, so good luck maxing them out. You'll probably finish all four bosses before that happens. This is getting long so I will just add that cannons are a really boring addition actually. You get them a few hours in, and they just make combat significantly more tedious. No way to aim shots, just let your crew figure it out. Having cannons on either of the two ships in combat adds a MANDATORY 30 second phase at the beginning that disables boarding the enemy. If you can't fire back, you have no counterplay or quick rush to stop them before they shoot you. If you have cannons and come upon a fishing boat, you either must use excessive force and ammunition, or wait around for 30 seconds to board them. That wouldn't be so terrible if you weren't forced to stop for every other ship! The game just plays slower as more mechanics are added. If I wasn't trying to get 100% achievements in most of my games, I would've walked away after 2-4 hours. I didn't last 30 min when I first bought it. I guess I can appreciate that most achievements can be accomplished easily. In 10 hours I've got all but 6 of them.
Игру вдруг начали развивать, после многих лет простоя. Это нужно поддержать.
Honestly? I don't even think it's worth the price I paid for it ($2.24, aka 85% off). It has terrible performance, shockingly poor controls, mediocre graphics, and all in all is just a waste of time and storage space.
