Pickle Pete is a fast-moving roguelite arena shooter that takes a deliberately ridiculous premise and builds a surprisingly substantial survival experience around it. Instead of controlling a conventional action hero, you play as an armed pickle attempting to push back waves of monsters across a world consumed by darkness. The strange concept gives the game an immediate personality, but its lasting appeal comes from the familiar yet satisfying cycle of surviving enemy assaults, collecting resources, assembling powerful builds, defeating bosses, and improving your capabilities for future attempts. The game is developed and published by Nightowls. The combat system is straightforward enough to understand within minutes. Attacks are largely automatic, leaving the player responsible for movement, positioning, collecting resources, and avoiding incoming damage. This seemingly simple arrangement becomes considerably more demanding as enemy numbers increase. A useful dodge roll provides an additional defensive tool and makes encounters more active than merely walking circles around groups of enemies. Knowing when to dodge through danger, when to retreat, and when to move toward valuable pickups becomes increasingly important as the screen fills with creatures and hostile attacks. Weapon variety is one of the game's strongest features. With more than 80 weapons available, players have considerable freedom when constructing offensive setups. Firearms, heavy weapons, and other equipment can be combined with abilities, mutations, items, and character improvements to produce dramatically different results. The most entertaining runs are often those where several modest upgrades begin interacting effectively, eventually creating a build capable of destroying large groups almost instantly. This emphasis on synergy gives experimentation a meaningful role rather than reducing progression to simply choosing whichever upgrade displays the largest damage number. The roguelite structure also provides permanent progression outside individual attempts. New weapons and lasting improvements can be unlocked over time, meaning unsuccessful runs can still contribute toward making future attempts more manageable or opening additional strategic possibilities. This creates a satisfying sense of advancement without completely removing the unpredictable nature of each run. Temporary upgrades still matter greatly, so players cannot depend entirely on permanent statistics and must continue adapting to the choices presented during combat. Content variety helps support repeated play. The full experience contains 32 levels and sends Pete through environments that include haunted forests, corrupted wastelands, ancient ruins, and other dangerous areas. Different enemies and environmental threats help distinguish these locations even though the fundamental objective remains survival. Additional characters, equipment, sidekicks, quests, mutations, and unlockable content further expand the number of possible approaches. Players coming from the demo can also carry their progress forward, making the transition into the complete version more convenient. Boss encounters provide important milestones between ordinary waves. More than 30 bosses are included, with different attack patterns and some encounters progressing through multiple phases. These battles can expose weaknesses that are less noticeable against standard enemies. A character built around quickly eliminating crowds may suddenly struggle against a durable target that requires sustained damage and careful evasive movement. As a result, preparing a balanced build can be just as valuable as maximizing immediate destructive power. The game's visual presentation suits the chaotic nature of its combat. Its top-down perspective makes enemies and movement routes relatively easy to identify even when encounters become crowded. The contrast between a cartoonish pickle protagonist and a hostile monster-infested world also keeps the tone playful. Pickle Pete does not take its concept too seriously, and that works in its favor because the exaggerated weapons, bizarre hero, and escalating destruction complement the quick-session nature of the gameplay. Replayability is ultimately where the game earns much of its value. Randomized build opportunities, numerous weapons, multiple characters, permanent progression, equipment choices, mutations, sidekicks, bosses, and different stages create plenty of reasons to attempt another run. It is particularly satisfying when an experimental combination unexpectedly becomes powerful enough to dominate the battlefield. Players interested in optimization can spend considerable time discovering effective synergies, while more casual players can simply enjoy the immediate satisfaction of mowing down increasingly large enemy groups. There is inevitably some repetition. Regardless of the amount of equipment and progression available, the central activity continues to involve moving around arenas, avoiding enemies, collecting resources, choosing upgrades, and surviving successive waves. Anyone who needs constant changes in objectives or extensive narrative development may eventually find the structure repetitive. Automatic attacking may also feel too passive for players who prefer direct aiming and traditional action-game combat. For fans of bullet-heaven and survival roguelites, however, these characteristics are more likely to be part of the attraction. Steam Deck compatibility is promising from a practical gameplay perspective because the game includes full controller support and its top-down design is naturally suited to handheld controls. However, it should not be treated as officially Steam Deck Verified unless Valve assigns that compatibility status. In the absence of an official Verified designation, players should regard its Steam Deck status as not formally confirmed and may need to account for potential compatibility or interface issues. Overall, Pickle Pete successfully combines accessible controls with enough weapons, upgrades, bosses, characters, and progression systems to create a rewarding roguelite loop. Its humorous concept attracts attention, while its extensive build customization gives the experience staying power beyond the joke. Nightowls has produced an enjoyable option for players who appreciate short, intense survival runs and the satisfaction of gradually assembling absurdly powerful combinations. Rating: 8/10
遊戲內容太少 優化不夠 裝備介面延遲太嚴重
Macht richtig spaß, für eine Speil erweiterung eine Idee eine Gurken Farm.
Its basically Brotato with a dodge roll, equipment and meta progression. In other words, its AWESOME!! Lots to unlock and upgrade, with tons of different builds. Way too much fun for the price. Don't think, just pick it up.
Fun game for a very good price
Огонь игруха! Как и Картошка! Еще и помидорчик иногда помогает с пистолетом ))
