A hidden gem! I bought this game based on the screenshots, but there is much more here than just the nice graphics. We have 7 main villages/towns. All are pretty and unique. Each introduces a fair amount of new lore and quests around it. The world feels just the right size, and exploring it is satisfying and quick thanks to the upgradable jetpack. Although there are sometimes too many cutscenes, and the UI looks like it never left the prototype stage, I highly recommend giving this game a try since you've been lucky enough to find it.
Za málo peněz, hodně muziky. Hra se dá koupit velice levně a za ty prachy super. Nejlepší je prostě ta pohyblivost po mapě a využití jetpacku, to nemá chybu. Jinak příběh ujde, ale nic převratného, takže nejlepší na hře je opravdu ta volno a pohyblivost v rámci mapy a soubojů, to bylo skvělé. Grafika taky pěkná, na PC hratelnost super.
Outcast is a lovable mess. It’s pretty clear this is an unfinished game with bugs galore and some terrible optimization. I saw interface elements get stuck and enemies fall through the floor, while enduring nasty traversal stutter wonky sound mixes. And I didn’t really care, because it had heart. Since it’s riffing off the Avatar humans-are-the-aliens formula, comparing it to the recent Ubisoft rendition of that franchise is instructive. That open world game is technically impressive, polished to a sheen… and terribly boring. Not to say it’s bad, it’s very well done. But to be honest I find that polish to be off-putting. Outcast, meanwhile, endears with its goofy characters and memorably pretty world. I genuinely enjoyed the voice acting and the silliness of the Talaan people. I think what let me enjoy it most was the movement. Besides the setting and the characters, if the jetpack wasn’t part of things it would not be nearly as enjoyable. But it’s genuinely fun building out the capabilities of the jetpack until you’re swooping around rock spires and whipping through environments. I think that also contributes to the game’s sense of scale - these are truly expansive environments. Listen, I know this game has flaws. There is entirely too much dialogue, the enemy variety is seriously lacking, and the bugs, so many bugs. But in the age of AAAA games, I’m heartened by a mere AA game.
