Outbreak: Endless Nightmares

As a fan of both procedural generation in games and several of the previous games in the series I am sad to say that this is the first game in the series that I give a negative rating. The controls are just really REALLY bad in this one for some reason. The author of the game has included a lot of different movement and camera options in this game and I think that might have something to do with it. It's commendable that they want to appease fans of all the different survival horror control styles but in the end none of them feel good. The over the shoulder and first person views has the aiming feel really weird and choppy while the classic cinematic camera with tank controls feel really weird because the camera angles just aren't placed that well. Even in the hub world which I assume isn't randomly generated the camera angles hide many items from view. A smaller goal with larger focus put onto it would have greatly benefited it in this respect. There's some other downgrades from previous titles too like I remember headshots being implemented in one or two of the latter entries, but that's gone now it seems. I'll give the game another chance and update the review if the controls are ever fixed but for now, the game is just kind of a pain.

Only if you like this sort of thing : - It has no story, no campaign. - But a series of scenaries replayed again and again with little variations. Roguelite/Roguelike, procedural. Definitely not my cup of tea. Instead, I thoroughly loved the campaigns of these other games: - Outbreak The Nightmare Chronicles. Fixed camera angles, don't usually like that, but game was so fine, in no time I was moving smoothly. - Outbreak Contagious Memories. Choose with a key at any time, 1st person, 3rd person or fixed camera angles, that's a thougthful choice for you. -- Disclosure and spoilers: 69 y.o. too slow gamer, I use C.E. Health initial, 220 4 bytes. Can replace with 9,999,999 or whatever suits you. Ammo 4 bytes, 99,999 or whatever. Addresses must be found in one room as they change when you exit one, but modified values persist in the rest of the area.

Changed review from positive to negative for one reason - This steam version of the game is abandoned. The EPIC store version got a huge update that never came to steam for whatever reason. Devs too busy plugging crappy lightgun and visual novel games instead.
