Orwell: Keeping an Eye On You

Me ha encantado. El que las elecciones importen me parece espectacular. Me lo he pasado genial y no podía parar de jugar, porque todo era muy interesante. Es un juego sencillo y que tiene salseo, porque te enteras de todo lo que hacen los personajes, lo que hablan, etc. La historia me ha parecido maravillosa y el desenlace no me lo esperaba para nada. Muy guay, la verdad.

I was looking for a game I could play in German to get more reading practice and this one looked interesting. At first I read absolutely everything and looked up words I didn’t know or was unsure of, hence the 18 hours I spent playing. After a while I felt like I _had_ to finish the game and started skimming — looking for datachunks — more often than reading. I wish I’d paced myself though because I liked everything about this game! First run: Let’s upload as many datachunks as possible to Orwell. Second run: Let’s make sure [character] doesn’t die. I had to force myself to uninstall the game after that, even though the completionist in me was tempted to go after the achievements I hadn’t unlocked yet. Those two runs led to different endings and I figured a third run would not be that different from the first or second one. I’m itching to reinstall it though!

Après avoir terminé le jeu, je peux dire que c'est une véritable pépite. L'idée d'incarner quelqu'un qui enquête uniquement à travers les données personnelles, les réseaux sociaux, les e-mails et les conversations est originale et incroyablement immersive. Le jeu pousse à réfléchir sur la vie privée, la surveillance et les conséquences de nos choix. L'histoire est captivante du début à la fin, les personnages sont crédibles et chaque information découverte peut changer le cours des événements. On se surprend à hésiter avant de transmettre certaines données, ce qui montre à quel point le jeu est bien écrit. Si vous aimez les jeux narratifs où vos décisions ont un réel impact, je vous recommande Orwell sans hésiter. Une expérience unique qui fait réfléchir longtemps après le générique de fin.

Compelling narrative game in which you research suspects and your decisions have consequences on the overarching plot. Strong recommendation for fans of the genre.

Je me suis vraiment prise au jeu ! C'était très chouette de fouiller un peu partout pour chercher les informations souhaitées, de faire des connections entre personnages, de découvrir petit à petit l'intrigue. C'est un très bon jeu d'enquête.
