For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

Old World is a historical strategy game where you lead your empire through multiple generations, building a grand legacy to last beyond your own years. This is an era of great leaders, from the revered to the feared. Which will you be?

Marry for politics, raise your heirs, and manage your relationship with the families of your kingdom. In the fast and furious world of kings and queens, family matters.
Each of the 7 kingdoms has four noble families that provide various benefits when put in charge of your cities.
Manage family ties through events, actions, and marriages to keep them happy and reap additional benefits. Upset them, or make them too powerful, and you risk their ire.
Maintain a strong family unit, or distract yourself with more illicit adventures.

The world is full of great characters with distinct personalities, strengths, and weaknesses. Use them to forge your kingdom, defend your borders, and build ties with other leaders.
Seek out and recruit famed warriors, philosophers, builders, and more. Have them tutor your children, lead your armies, and further your reign.
Different personality archetypes allow your court members to perform different tasks in similar roles. Find the right combinations to take full advantage of governors, diplomats, spymasters, and even your spouse.
Characters develop new personalities and traits over time, growing old, gaining experience, and finally falling ill and passing away, leaving room for the next generation.

Unsettled tribes, barbarian marauders, and remnants of previous cultures are all waiting in the vast unexplored wilderness.
Discover artifacts and great heroes of the past at ruins scattered across the map.
Experience over 3,000 unique events inspired by history and mythology.
Contact with foreign dignitaries triggers event chains, stories, and courtroom drama.
Pursue ambitions and legacies related to conquest, development, faith, and more.
Historically inspired scenarios, weekly challenge games, and a choice between randomly generated and handcrafted maps to explore. Lead Carthage to victory as Hannibal in the Punic Wars, hold your own against Barbarian Hordes, or compete against other players in tackling fictional scenarios.

Why do things the way they've always been done? Old World brings a new take to key elements of the 4X strategy genre:
Go beyond the traditional resources. Buildings are made of wood and stone, not "industry." Population doesn't grow off "food" alone.
Orders are a resource shared across your realm. Instead of moving every unit once per turn, each unit can be moved multiple times until fatigued or Orders are depleted.
Technological advancement is not predetermined. Randomization helps keep technology trees feeling fresh with each new playthrough.
Quality of life improvements, such as the ability to undo mistaken commands and nested tooltips, ensure you're always making informed decisions.
Play with friends in countless multiplayer modes — from hotseat, to asynchronous, to cloud play.
Experience a Grammy-nominated soundtrack blending Arabic music with contemporary influences.
Mods further open up infinite options for new worlds, empires, and dynasties — inspired by our real world, and by works of fiction as well.

I've played very little of this game (11 hrs as of this review), as I prefer more "pop-in, pop-out" style games. This game requires focus and a bit of patience to properly enjoy, so longer game sessions might be required (playing this game for only 30-60 minutes feels like doing very little progress even in a single round). This is not one of those "pop-in, pop-out" games, every game session had lasted at least 4 hours in this game, it has a very satisfying growth/progression gameplay loop without being difficult. It is still significantly harder than, say, Civilization games, but it is well worth the time and money for people looking for a more in-depth game. Very good replay value with the Nations (and their bonuses) and a tough learning curve if playing PvP online. The highlight of this game is the "Orders" system that prevents lengthy boring end-game turns and adds extra decision making (as you're not able to move every army every turn, you naturally begin focusing on one or the other front) I've had prior knowledge in Crusader Kings II, III and Stellaris - so a lot of the systems that it incorporates are seemingly a simplified version of these aforementioned games. ... The biggest con of this game is that it is too time consuming for me, and I prefer to have a wide variety of video games. I feel that this is one of those cases in which you either play very very often or very little at all. This is a GIGANTIC PLUS if you are one of those people that LOVE this genre of games, and I generally do see people with thousands of hours in this game. Looks and plays very well with a small size (10 gigabytes, no DLCs) VERDICT? I recommend it - and hopefully in the near future I will find the strength to dig my teeth deeper into this one.

In short - it's not a perfect game, but still the best Civ-style experience with strong Crusader Kings vibes
If you ever played Civilization V and thought "I love the game, but I wish the game was slower and the diplomacy was a bigger part of the game," this is the game for you.
Highly recommend this game. 10/10. Really fully explores the bronze to Iron Age in such an immersive and engaging way. From the politics to the war with an intelligent CPU player to just building a city and optimizing your layout and tech progress. There’s so many ways to play. Can’t go wrong.
Been playing Civilization since it was released in 1991. Civ 7 has been a disappointment, and after struggling to try to like it, I've given up. I simply don't want to invest my time into learning a game that is not ultimately enjoyable. I had purchased Old World awhile back, and it sat in my library. After looking for recs from other Civilization refugees, I found Old World mentioned a lot. So I gave it a shot. Wow. It has catapulted me back to 1991 when I lost sleep staying awake for "just one more turn." Yep, it's that addictive. No surprise really since its designer did Civ IV. It has classic Civ in its DNA. I'm not far into it, but I am learning, putting in the time, getting my ass handed to me by other kingdoms, but the time investment feels worth it. Just remember: It might have Civ DNA but it is its own entity. If you know Civ, you will have to approach this game with an open mind. Don't get frustrated because 35 years of Civ gameplay doesn't translate here and bounce. Put in the time. Play and experiment. Make mistakes and instead of rage quitting, follow through and watch what happens. Ultimately ask yourself, is this game fun? For me the answer is an emphatic, "You're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ right it is."
I like the game but for one thing, the global command system, there is no logic to it, and it becomes apparent when you get 5 or more cities. Basically, command points are like AP points, but they’re global. So having 2 workers is not having 2 workers that work a full day. No, because you use command points for diplomacy, infrastructure, travel and production. If you run out of command points, you will have workers doing nothing for a whole year. Yes, you heard that right: you have a workforce and you feed them, yet they do nothing for one year. There is a good reason why resource games use AP attached to the unit and not global, as it leads to this weird, illogical bull. I am sure the leaders of old worlds did not pay people to stand around. Also, why does it reduce command points for travel? If I tell a unit to go to a city, is that not one command in real life? I don’t each day need to send them the same command. No, complete disconnect for the genre, and I doubt it will be copied, as it does not make sense. Having more workers gives you more work hours, full stop. If I had known that command points worked this way before purchase, I would not have bought the game. Illogical, does not compute.
Sadly what is spoken about online a lot is true and that's the end game lag (not even that late) is intolerable.. Also the combat really just doesn't work and seems like the ai has an unfair upper hand. One thing that is brilliant is the family stuff, the managing of all the characters and their picture icons for all the randomly created characters look real and very easy to tell apart which is great in helping to remember who's who. but yeah its unplayable with the lag and by GPU was running at a peaked 58%. so it's a game issue rather than specs.
