Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.29/day in the week to Aug 22 → 3/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

Old World is a historical strategy game where you lead your empire through multiple generations, building a grand legacy to last beyond your own years. This is an era of great leaders, from the revered to the feared. Which will you be?

Marry for politics, raise your heirs, and manage your relationship with the families of your kingdom. In the fast and furious world of kings and queens, family matters.
Each of the 7 kingdoms has four noble families that provide various benefits when put in charge of your cities.
Manage family ties through events, actions, and marriages to keep them happy and reap additional benefits. Upset them, or make them too powerful, and you risk their ire.
Maintain a strong family unit, or distract yourself with more illicit adventures.

The world is full of great characters with distinct personalities, strengths, and weaknesses. Use them to forge your kingdom, defend your borders, and build ties with other leaders.
Seek out and recruit famed warriors, philosophers, builders, and more. Have them tutor your children, lead your armies, and further your reign.
Different personality archetypes allow your court members to perform different tasks in similar roles. Find the right combinations to take full advantage of governors, diplomats, spymasters, and even your spouse.
Characters develop new personalities and traits over time, growing old, gaining experience, and finally falling ill and passing away, leaving room for the next generation.

Unsettled tribes, barbarian marauders, and remnants of previous cultures are all waiting in the vast unexplored wilderness.
Discover artifacts and great heroes of the past at ruins scattered across the map.
Experience over 3,000 unique events inspired by history and mythology.
Contact with foreign dignitaries triggers event chains, stories, and courtroom drama.
Pursue ambitions and legacies related to conquest, development, faith, and more.
Historically inspired scenarios, weekly challenge games, and a choice between randomly generated and handcrafted maps to explore. Lead Carthage to victory as Hannibal in the Punic Wars, hold your own against Barbarian Hordes, or compete against other players in tackling fictional scenarios.

Why do things the way they've always been done? Old World brings a new take to key elements of the 4X strategy genre:
Go beyond the traditional resources. Buildings are made of wood and stone, not "industry." Population doesn't grow off "food" alone.
Orders are a resource shared across your realm. Instead of moving every unit once per turn, each unit can be moved multiple times until fatigued or Orders are depleted.
Technological advancement is not predetermined. Randomization helps keep technology trees feeling fresh with each new playthrough.
Quality of life improvements, such as the ability to undo mistaken commands and nested tooltips, ensure you're always making informed decisions.
Play with friends in countless multiplayer modes — from hotseat, to asynchronous, to cloud play.
Experience a Grammy-nominated soundtrack blending Arabic music with contemporary influences.
Mods further open up infinite options for new worlds, empires, and dynasties — inspired by our real world, and by works of fiction as well.

I liked this game but never got that far. Tried to pick it back up recently and have had issues with it opening - just stays on the map without the menu ever appearing indefinitely. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and opening in safe mode but am still having issues. Good game - but frustrated at the moment.

Old World feels like a very well thought out and designed 4x game, with many different systems layered on top of each other that interact in interesting ways. It has a steep learning curve - it's almost like a graduate level course after coming from Civilization, but I deeply enjoy its novel systems in the 4x genre. The two most different aspects of OW coming from a Civ player are the characters/court/noble families system and the orders mechanic. The character system allows immersive roleplay of your dynasty to a whole other level. There's political intrigue, backstabbing, internal politics that can prove challenging to quell, along the usual external politics that you normally have with your neighboring nations. And the orders system is a limit to how many actions you can take during a turn, which severely limits the bloat of the end-game that plagues many 4x games, as well as makes early-mid game choices a bit more interesting. Should you focus on economy or war with the limited actions you have this turn? The narrative events in the game add unique flavor and flair to each playthrough, and the combat AI is truly something to fear, unlike in Civ. While Civ 6 has much more variety between each nation, and in my opinion is much more sandbox-like than OW (and I still love Civ 6), OW's biggest strength to me is how immersed I can get into the story of each ruler's dynasty with the character influence system and the narrative storytelling. The gameplay can feel mostly the same between Babylon vs Rome, for example, but the story you craft each time can be unique. The devs of this game are also very responsive to any questions on discord and continually update the game with new nations and events too, which keeps me coming back. Highly recommended 4x game for strategy lovers.
Hard for no reason
Best 4x game I've played in forever, it's significantly more enjoyable than any modern Civ.
A fun, deep classical period empire simulation that is easy to pick up but deceptively deep. The only way to do this game justice is to simply tell you my experience: I am currently playing as Persia, where I am experiencing a power struggle within my dynasty for control over the empire. Xerxes I had expanded the empire in great conquest, waging war against the Babylonians and the Assyrians. Upon his death, Queen Cassandane took the throne. Cassandane led her armies into babylon, annexing their territory. Persia expanded, it's military unquestionably mighty, but one thing held Cassandane back from being deemed a truly worthy monarch; an heir. Cassandane originally adopted a child as her own and named him Cambyses. Soon after Cassadane finally became pregnant. Cassadane named this new son Xerxes II", and named him the chosen heir, though Cambyses still had succession rights. Upon Cassandane's death, Xerxes II took the throne. His reign was noted by an alienation of the royal family from the noble and working class, economic instability and famine caused by the aggression expansion into babylon from the previous rulers. With pressure on all sides, Xerxes abdicates from the throne, which allowed for his adopted brother, Cambyses to take the throne. Cambyses was a great king, who focused on infrastructure rather than expansion, which made the country very rich. Though he was not related to Xerxes I by blood, he very much won the hearts of the people. With Cambyses passing and his son, Cyprus taikng the throne, concern now grows over this new line of kings unrelated to the original founder, Xerxes I. With Xerxes II and his family still alive and significant members of the aristocracy, how long will it be until the current line of succession gets challenged?
Not sure when I last left a review but I realized Old World is deserving of it. This is a great game, and one of the few I have come back to time and again. It's got entertaining mechanics and highlights bits of cultural history that have largely been ignored in video games. Pick it up.
Excelente Jogo
its like civ6 where you are only in antient era and where you have to care about politics of families like in total war/ck3, .. the play style is much like civ6 so its ez. maybe i didnt have the technology but its very hard to actually make diplomacy,.. could make any allies, just made some peace with nations and tribes.. but once i got attacked by persia all other got onto me like flies. .. ( i played king difficulty or something like that.. so not on easy mode.. but anyway, its worth mentioning.
