About

The year is 198X, and you're a jobbing composer. You start out with nothing but a toy keyboard shaped like a tiger, and a brand new sequence-o-matic 4-track that your uncle bought from a shady geezer in the pub.
Word quickly spreads about the new producer on the block, and soon the commissions are rolling in. Things start humble, recording tracks for weddings, workout videos and corporate presentations, but before long you're getting asked to score fantasy movies, museum openings, and all kinds of crazy stuff.
Of course, you'll have to upgrade your kit along the way. Turns out, the local second-hand magazine is a treasure trove of objects that make interesting sounds, from singing garden gnomes and shredders-that-shred-sound-as-well-as-paper, to high-end synthesisers and musical effects. By the end, you'll have figured out a sound that's all your own.

But OFFBEAT isn't just a game. All the musical instruments are fully simulated, and the music you're recording is real. The game is secretly a complete audio production tool. Every piece of music you create in the game gets exported and saved locally on your computer as a WAV file, which you can use for whatever you want.
Music production can be costly and complex to get into, especially for beginners. We created OFFBEAT to lower barrier to entry and to offer a playful, low-pressure way to learn the basics of audio producion. The goal is just to be expressive and experimental, but by the end you'll have learned a little about synthesizers, sound design, composition and recording. Our hope is that when the game's finished, you'll have the confidence and expertise to carry on composing and recording music.

Very cool and fun as someone with intermediate experience with DAWs. Lots of helpful features for those with limited experience in music production. I appreciate the sound palette available too. Leads to some creative decisions to make things work and find some funky new sounds. highly recommend and cant wait for more!

I really like this game. I am playing on linux so i havn't figured out yet how to get out the music, but that is mostly on me (could always just boot to windows, but eww) OFFBeat is one my favorite game I've played this year and I'm normally playing RPGs. it is simple so my 7 year old can figure out how to play with it and can get complicated and deep enough to play and make some sick beats I personally enjoyed. I will be looking forward to any and all updates, sampling would be so sick.
Great game! A wide range of options are available including labeled notes and multiple octaves if you can read music or know any theory The gnome is my fav so far
Great game for learning some basics of music and fun to just mess around with
Good for starting making music. It is pretty simple and teaches you how to do everything and is good for beginners. Most other music production softwares are really confusing and complicated but this one is way simpler and you can still make really good music in it. Its also really cheap and its on steam so you can download it really easily and it has cloud saves.
Offbeat is an incredible tool for creativity, as someone who's never done music before. It's awakened a new interest in me and made composition ridiculously accessible and fun. I can't wait for it to get out of early access!!
Very fun and easy to learn game, can’t wait for them to add more tools so I can keep trying to recreate songs i like :)
insane game mechanics top tier spiel
