About

The year is 198X, and you're a jobbing composer. You start out with nothing but a toy keyboard shaped like a tiger, and a brand new sequence-o-matic 4-track that your uncle bought from a shady geezer in the pub.
Word quickly spreads about the new producer on the block, and soon the commissions are rolling in. Things start humble, recording tracks for weddings, workout videos and corporate presentations, but before long you're getting asked to score fantasy movies, museum openings, and all kinds of crazy stuff.
Of course, you'll have to upgrade your kit along the way. Turns out, the local second-hand magazine is a treasure trove of objects that make interesting sounds, from singing garden gnomes and shredders-that-shred-sound-as-well-as-paper, to high-end synthesisers and musical effects. By the end, you'll have figured out a sound that's all your own.

But OFFBEAT isn't just a game. All the musical instruments are fully simulated, and the music you're recording is real. The game is secretly a complete audio production tool. Every piece of music you create in the game gets exported and saved locally on your computer as a WAV file, which you can use for whatever you want.
Music production can be costly and complex to get into, especially for beginners. We created OFFBEAT to lower barrier to entry and to offer a playful, low-pressure way to learn the basics of audio producion. The goal is just to be expressive and experimental, but by the end you'll have learned a little about synthesizers, sound design, composition and recording. Our hope is that when the game's finished, you'll have the confidence and expertise to carry on composing and recording music.

I couldn't sleep and was listening to music. Hopped on ts again and lord do i love it. Roadmap looks sick and I'm happy I found out about this.
A very charming Early Access title that will only get better as the developers introduce more instruments and improvements! It's a pleasant gamified music making experience that encourages you to explore and create whatever, while helping newbies not fret too much about the music theory and technical sides of music production if they don't want to. Been loving it so far and I'm looking forward to what comes in future updates!

now i dont have to pay 1000$ for a music studio app, thanks
It's a very good game it allows me to make my own music for potentially my own video games or just making music for fun I think I found a major bug where it doesn't save your progress at all only it happens after you reset your laptop if your game freezes at the same time How I reset my laptop is by holding the power button and it just sends you back to the beginning It clearly has all of your stuff unlocked but all of your equipment all of your music making stuff is gone it's like you're playing from the very absolute beginning but without any progress at all I don't know if I should make it entirely new save or not Remember this is still an early access for many of us people
Instant classic and a game that has the potential to get tons of people into making music. So thoughtfully done.
To start to get it out of the way, please keep in mind this game is early-access which unfortunately brings it to a halt and makes the current release of this game shallow. Despite this, the 5 hours I've spent with this has been an absolute joy and inspiring. Whether you have never touched music production software before, have dabbled, or a pro I think this game will help anyone tap into their musical sensibilities. I've had on/off stints of music production and felt right at home getting into the swing of things here. The game helps you through so anyone can become a musician. At the time it's short but it's packed with a lot of unique detail that genuinely has me wishing the full-release can come sooner than later. The instruments themselves are unique and offer a decent amount of variety. Those with much more musical knowledge can stretch their usage more than I could. Regardless of this, the upgrades included offer a larger library of sounds to be used. Keeping 4 instrument on the deck can feel limiting but at the same time helps prevent too much of a mess being made. Moving from job to job was a great way to teach new instruments/upgrades and did a great job of making each one feel unique. Eventually I'll be jamming more just to make my own unique works. Overall I would absolutely recommend this game. The visuals are unique, the sound is impressive which is big for something like this, and I genuinely want to go back and create more music and look forward to future updates. At this price now, I think anyone interested in music production should dip their toe in using this game.
I've been experimenting with music production for almost a year using a conventional DAW (FL Studio), but find it hard to stay motivated to practice, try new things, etc. Thankfully, Off Beat came onto my radar at just the right time and is exactly the kind of thing I need to keep creating. The simplified structure, clear prompts, and the focus on exploration and creativity are all wrapped up in cozy vibes that make the process of making music accessible and fun.
Been waiting ages for a game just like this. Absolute boatloads of potential
