About
Nuclear Option is a combat flight game set on a dynamic and realistic battlefield of the near future. Use an array of advanced weapons to change the course of battles as you intercept bombers, duel fighters, fly under the radar, or unleash the fury of nuclear weapons on enemy formations.
Each aircraft comes with an immersive cockpit featuring a situational awareness HUD, identifying nearby targets and threats. Aircraft can be flown with various controllers or with a mouse-controlled "virtual joystick", requiring no special hardware.
Experience realistic flight dynamics, with stalls, spins and g-force effects fully implemented, as each aircraft is composed of up to 50 individually simulated physics parts . A highly detailed damage model means that the condition of each part affects the way your aircraft flies.
Build your own missions using the included mission editor, and then fly your mission solo or with friends in PVP or PVE multiplayer combat.
This arcadey/semi-realistic flight checks most if not all boxes for its genre.
It has adequately in depth missile system which still allows for a challenge even for more experienced players during PvP/E, with its unique armaments and their individual behaviours allowing different playstyles and tactics. The ai is fine. Its not genius but and its not stupid. With time you learn to play around it, but it will still be punishing if you make mistakes. The flight model encourages conservation of speed and understanding different planes tolerances and turn rates, including the various helicopters and vtol aircraft which work flawlessly in par with regular jets.
It has some shortcomings.
However most of them are for good reason: 1. content wise the gameplay loop gets saturated fast, but considering the game is still being worked on its reasonable. 2. The plane models can show cheap/low polly inner textures, especially during crashes, however for about 99% of gameplay you wont notice them. (the crashes still look very good for what they are)
The game holds up outstandingly for its size.
5~ gb gives a truly insane amount of content while, with graphics being completely fine. You will not spend multiple hours on quest line in a city. You will fly through it at 1000 km/h. The scenery and mountains, including foliage, likewise.
The game is fun.
You can play slow and jam people. Or you can fly 5m off the ground to avoid radar and strike deep behind enemy lines. Or do anything else alongside your friends or teammates or ai. Or crash trying to take off from a runway too short XD.
