play this. if you somehow never heard of this game, play it. if you have heard of this game and are here for that reason, play it. this game is one of the best experiences I've ever had with a video game and so far, is the only one i can say has made me "irrationally happy." is that even a thing? probably not. point is, buy this game. play this game. run around naked in the woods. its all worth it.
Delightful art and some bone chilling god-tier writing make this game much better than its sluggush and repetitive gameplay would otherwise allow for. When it gets real, this game has some of the strongest characterization and deeply moving writing I've ever seen in a game. Problem is it doesn't get real very often and you need to be patient: visit the same 4 screens 20ish times and interact with the same people over and over. I get that is partly the point of the story, but I had to grit my teeth to not walk away after 2 hours when characters don't talk about what's really eating them or what I wanted them to say and do. In the end I do feel the game pays off thanks to the strong writing (in parts) and the vibes of a dying town and the lessons the game has to offer on moving on. Plays perfectly on SD.

A game with well built characters, interesting conversations and cool art, the only negative point for me was the ending.

aww it was fun during start suddenly went little dark at the end.. SELMER IS THE BESTTTTTT GIRL THO
I haven't played much on steam but finished the game multiple times on ps4. this game is AMAZING!!! it isn't the game you think it is in the beginning, and it also covers some serious topics in a way that captivates you as well as sending a message. i also formed an emotional attachment to so many of the characters!! overall an amazing game
After finishing this game I still have so much mixed feelings about it... The art, music, characters and overall ambiance are great but the gameplay almost put a hard stop for me. Basically ther'es this loop of waking up -> exploring town to see if there's something new -> hanging out with friends -> going to sleep and it's SO boring and repetitive. I know it depicts the experience of a young adult returning to her hometown so the gameplay reflects that, but coming from games like Isaac, the teeny tiny bit of platforming gameplay is definitely not enough and overridden by the quantities of dialogue the game has. Despite what I just said the game is still very nice and if you like Life is Strange and Twin Peaks (aka slow stories of a town descending into madness) you will sure enjoy Night in the Woods ! Everybody's diffferent after all.
