Maybe if I was playing this when it came out in my 20s I would see the point, It would have been one of the first horror and slice of life combo I would be playing. But today its just...not holding any water for me. If you want a better story, with good director, and horror and comedy and the same ending twist watch Widows Bay.
so peak it got me into gaming, my only complaint is that there isnt a million spin offs

Kiska's Adventures!!!
20 hours of gameplay and I could definitely see myself replaying it in the future to see the paths I didn't take. I like how the game gives you a direction but you can still decide to explore side stories which is why my play through was so long. Your choices don't really change the story but you can choose which friends to spend time with on each day which makes me eager to replay and see what other sequences there are if I chose to hang out with a different friend. The increasing sense of mystery was very intriguing and I found that the game got quite creepy at times, I also liked the themes of capitalism, religion and spirituality, relationships, the supernatural and mental health (there's more that I can't mention without spoiling). Sorry if this review is all over the place I just woke up.
love this game. highly recommend.
If there was a more neutral option I would pick that, but alas... The game almost completely lacks gameplay, but I get it, it's just the kind of game it is. Interacting with side characters and exploring the town, and getting to know it is pretty nice, largely feels like Life is Strange: True Colors, perhaps, if you're looking for closest match. However, there are some things in a game that annoyed me just too much: - Main story: I felt being hyped up for something big to happen throughout the game. They do this tension build up pretty nicely. What they don't do nicely is the final resolution. It feels completely lackluster and mostly out of nowhere. Maybe they went for some kind of realism in this, or wanted to make a point that sometimes this happens, I don't know... But I think it ultimately goes at odds with the quality of overall experience. - Content gating: I really don't like games that prevent you from experiencing as much of the game as possible in one play through, and this is one such game. You are forced to pick who you hang out with for no good reasons, and are forced to skip some options. Also if you mix, you get locked out of bond achievement with both people. People can say things about replayability value all they want, but I don't think it was necessary here at all.
