Disclaimer: I wrote this review after completing 100% of all achievements of this game. (Game time: ~92 hours) [h1] Never Give Up![/h1] [h2] The best hardcore platformer with any lore that I played so far [/h2] Never Give Up is a hardcore platformer game and the spiritual successor to Tasselfoot's own flash games Give Up and Give Up 2 (which also feature blue and in which he was not able to depend on the kindness of checkpoints yet). It has decent, but not overwhelmingly different music (the music is mostly written for the environments Blue finds himself in (at least 2 different tracks for each world) as well as one track for boss fights) I have to deduce some points for the FPS which tend to vary on my RTX Laptop Ti GPU, even when I set my laptop into performance mode (this way it is far more endurable). I would have liked to see more graphic options in the game itself - however, it must be considered that according to the intro credits of Never Give Up, it is a game that was ported from Nintendo Switch to PC. I personally recommend to play the game without shaders (those will make the graphics overall appear in a bit of a convexesque way, but it is also a question of personal taste - whether you keep them activated or not is up to you) The Level Sets can get repetitive at times, but that is part of the challenge and the developers amongst Tasselfoot made sure to put a twist in every now and then to keep you engaged. [b] IMPORTANT WARNING: [/b] When I say hardcore platformer, I [b] definitely mean [/b] hardcore platformer! In my first run (on Easy Mode) it took me over like 4000 deaths alone to just make Blue overcome the final boss of the game! This game tests your will and resilience. If you are completely new to hardcore games, do not expect to go from the first world to the final boss, beat the final boss, get the "Never Give Up" achievement and call it a day!
