A title I picked up in the days of Roguelike craze, and while not all games were gems, this gem is certainly a game. Cute, sweet, and simple in it's execution, the runs offer enough variety and challenge when paired with the simple style that creates some fun runs. The skills are varied and creative, with interesting upgrades and synergies between spells and passive runes, creating hectic combinations with fun mage power fantasies. The enemies are definitely a highlight, as their designs are all cute and clear while providing a great variety of mechanics to play around. Paired with simple yet effective skills, the game remains readable even in the more hectic Roguelike moments, thanks to Neophyte's cute and simple style. All of this works even better when the catchy tracks are bumping. While not the best representation of Early Access on Steam, Neophyte is also a reminder that everyone behind the screens is human, and I sincerely hope Regal Pigeon all the best in life. Thank you for sharing a part of yourself, I certainly have no regrets supporting you and your game.

---See where this game landed on my Survivor Rogue-lite/like Tier List at the bottom of this rec!--- There's better games in the genre. You have 4 active abilities and a dash button, but I wish I could autofire these (you can autofire one of them by holding down left mouse button) - it's a bit to manage. Among the upgrades you get, you also get lots of extra abilities that you don't have room to equip, making them redundant. Progression through a run wasn't interesting enough for me. Once you've played your first run through the game I think you've seen it all - the only difference being higher difficulty settings and abilities you haven't played with yet. So, a lil overview at first. I bought this game when it first released. I'd say even in that state, that the game was fully playable, albeit a bit short, and lacking in some content, but it was still a fine experience. I don't even remember if the game was early access at first, can a game even do that? Enter early access later? Probably not, anyway. The point I'm trying to make is that the dev added some content, after a long wait, then added some more content, then they left the game in early access for 2 years and just released it as 1.0 without any update. Am I dissapointed there's not a big 1.0 update? Yes. But if you approach it as it is now, you won't be. Am I satisfied with my experience and think it's worth it's extremely cheap price? Yes. Would I recommend this game? Hell yeah. Go buy it.
this game has not been updated for over 2 years and its in ea. also i realy enjoy the game so it makes me sad. oh its out now
Finished the game on my second run @ 51 minutes.
👍
It's abandoned but has plenty of content and it's cheaper than a snack. The dev had a pretty rough time in the last two years and is now moving on to a new project. If you intend to buy it, keep in mind that although it is half baked, it's still very delicious. Lotsa success on your new project, Regal Pigeon.
