Necromunda: Hired Gun, developed by Streum On Studio and published by Focus Entertainment, is a brutal and adrenaline-fueled first-person shooter set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. It transports players into the violent, industrial sprawl of the Necromunda underhive—a city so vast and corrupt that life is cheap, and mercenaries thrive in the chaos. You play as a hardened bounty hunter, a gun-for-hire with a cybernetic arsenal and a loyal cyber-mastiff companion, taking contracts to hunt down criminals, mutants, and traitors across the decaying remains of this dystopian metropolis. The game’s world captures the essence of Warhammer’s grim darkness with remarkable fidelity. Every steel corridor, neon-lit alley, and towering mechanical structure bleeds atmosphere, immersing players in a setting that feels both monstrous and alive. The opening hours of Necromunda: Hired Gun immediately showcase its greatest strength: speed and ferocity. The game’s movement system allows for wall-running, grappling, sliding, and double-jumping, encouraging constant motion in combat. The player is never meant to stand still—momentum is survival. Enemies swarm from all directions, and every encounter feels like a chaotic ballet of bullets, explosions, and blood. The grappling hook in particular becomes an extension of the player’s body, allowing you to zip between ledges, swing over chasms, and pounce on unsuspecting foes. Combined with the wide array of weapons—plasma rifles, bolters, autoguns, and exotic blades—the result is a gameplay loop that rewards aggressive improvisation. The pace evokes old-school shooters like Doom and Quake, but with a modern layer of customization and cinematic flair. The cyber-mastiff companion adds a layer of tactical depth and personality that distinguishes the game from other fast shooters. Your canine ally can be upgraded, commanded to attack, and even used to scout ahead. Watching your dog leap onto enemies and tear them apart in a flurry of sparks and gore is one of the game’s most satisfying spectacles. It also helps ground the player emotionally; amidst all the mechanical carnage, this creature is a small but loyal presence in a world that otherwise feels devoid of warmth. Between missions, you return to the hub known as Martyr’s End, where you can accept new contracts, upgrade augmentations, and modify weapons. This hub area, while small, acts as a brief respite from the chaos, a place to tinker and prepare for the next explosive mission. The visuals and art direction in Necromunda: Hired Gun are impressive in their ambition. The underhive is a feast of industrial design—massive smokestacks, catwalks suspended over bottomless pits, and decayed machinery that seems to stretch endlessly into darkness. The use of color and lighting captures the sense of decay and neon excess that defines the Warhammer 40K aesthetic. Despite the technical constraints, the world feels dense and believable, its spaces filled with environmental storytelling. The soundtrack complements this perfectly, combining heavy electronic beats and industrial tones that push the energy forward. Every firefight becomes a pulse-pounding spectacle of chaos and noise, driven by a relentless rhythm that mirrors the player’s heartbeat. However, for all its visual and mechanical ambition, the game’s weaknesses are difficult to ignore. The story is underdeveloped, serving mainly as a backdrop for the action rather than a compelling narrative thread. The plot revolves around revenge, betrayal, and survival, but its characters are thinly written, and the dialogue lacks the gravitas one might expect from a world as rich as Necromunda. While lore fans will appreciate the references and atmosphere, newcomers may struggle to find emotional engagement beyond the immediate thrill of combat. The pacing also suffers from uneven mission design—while some levels are thrilling and tightly structured, others drag on with repetitive objectives or lack the same intensity. Technical performance was a recurring issue at launch, with reports of inconsistent AI, crashes, and stuttering. While patches have improved stability over time, certain design inconsistencies remain. Enemy behavior can be erratic, with foes sometimes standing still or charging headlong into fire, and the hit detection occasionally feels off during hectic battles. The platforming, while satisfying in motion, can also become clumsy in confined spaces, with the grappling hook failing to latch or wall-runs that end abruptly. These flaws, while not dealbreakers, contribute to an overall sense that the game’s ambition occasionally exceeds its polish. Despite these shortcomings, Necromunda: Hired Gun succeeds where it matters most—it is exhilarating to play. When the movement, shooting, and soundtrack all synchronize, the result is a sensory overload of pure action. The gunfights are intense, the weapons feel powerful, and the sense of scale in the environments gives the game an epic quality. Even as the story fades into the background, the experience of diving headfirst into battle, sliding under gunfire, and tearing through hordes of enemies with your cyber-dog at your side remains consistently rewarding. The upgrade systems, while not revolutionary, give enough room for experimentation to keep the combat loop fresh throughout the campaign. Necromunda: Hired Gun is not a flawless experience, but it captures something rare: a sense of raw, unrestrained energy that few shooters manage to sustain. It is a game that thrives on chaos and spectacle, embracing its rough edges to deliver an unapologetically fast and violent adventure. Fans of the Warhammer 40K universe will find plenty to appreciate in its worldbuilding and tone, while those looking for a pure adrenaline rush will revel in its kinetic gunplay. It may stumble narratively and technically, but when it’s firing on all cylinders, it’s a thrilling, blood-soaked ride through one of the most distinctive sci-fi settings in gaming. Rating: 6/10

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

fun potential, far to buggy to be enjoyable though.
Unfortunately, cool setting and fine gameplay is ruined by many, many issues starting from unbalanced scenarios, through lack of checkpoints to weapons jamming. Not recommended unless you're a Necromunda fan, then it won't matter anyway.
this game plays like ass the controls are nonsense on controllers there is no melee button why not just let you pick one of the 30 different magic powers and make that a melee button you could even keep the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ wheel menu and just have you pick different powers like you choose between weapons the "execution" (glory kill) button is permanently tied to the same button as reload meaning you cannot change the button without changing the button to reload with it the wall running somehow manages to be the worst of both option in games in titanfall you begin your wallrun by jumping into a wall this can get annoying as sometimes you wallrun when you didnt want to but its manageable and you will almost always wallrun when you want in necromunda you have to run up to the wall and hold A or whatever the jump button is this is somehow the worst option because now you constantly both miss your wallrun because you didnt hold the button long enough and also you will randomly start a wall run if you hold the button a split second too long also since its bound to A you cannot ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wallrun and look at the same time because you are looking with the same hand you are pressing A with for some reason riot shield wielding jetpack minigun bullet sponges with an energy shield on top of that because ♥♥♥♥ you I guess every enemy is a bullet sponge and if you fire a single bullet the entire map will home in on your exact ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ location like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cruise missiles no sprint button which would be fine if it was like doom but you dont move nearly as fast as you do in doom dog is kinda useless finished the entire game deathless without having to use it once the game is weirdly hard but also not hard most of the times ive had to use one of the revive stims has been because of weird ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or things that just seemed kind of unfair like the train section with the parts on the ceiling that insta kill you or one time I just got pinned in a corner by like 20 ogryns the game had randomly spawned no easy way to restart missions cant get rid of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ starter pistol that does less damage than my ♥♥♥♥ thank god I have this useless piece of ♥♥♥♥ clogging up one my only 3 pistol slots the grappling hook doesnt work on like 90% of the things in the game it was not at all designed for one I have no idea why it was crammed into this game when it doesnt work 90% of the time game looks like ♥♥♥♥ but thats normal for unreal story is mid at best probably some other ♥♥♥♥ I dont remember generally the game just kinda feels like its trying to cram mechanics from 15 games into one it does not feel good to control it feels like you are just randomly bouncing around and holding the trigger down until you kill everything or run out of ammo theres no flow like in doom which is what I think they wanted?
Its like so dumb its jarring and shocking
No phisics, arcade gameplay, boring. Emperor wouldn't be proud.
