Myst: Masterpiece Edition

Product of its time, just play realMyst if you want to try and enjoy the series. This version of the game is playable but it's not the best version of the game for anyone used to modern gaming. The movement is a very choppy power point type system, causing you to get turned around or lost easily. There are no subtitles so it's impossible to understand what the cutscenes are saying. The main goal is to collect pages, but you cannot hold more than 1 at a time- so you have to pick one up, go back to the area to deposit them, then return to pick up any others; it's just a chore. It has it's 90s charm, but it's not a good experience.

Myst! The classic Myst, preserved in all it's glory! I kind of dreaded that this game would be obtuse like a lot of point and click games from the 90s, but the Myst devs had the twist of making it make sense (lol). The puzzles were good, although perhaps a little basic, it ended up being a lot more exploration based than I imagined. But that's ok! This is a wonderful example of surrealism and atmosphere, cloaking the world in an air of mystique. Now that I've played it, I can really see the true extent of how influential the game is, and for good reason. If you like puzzle or adventure games, as I am sure you already know, this is required playing. The game is really well made, so you don't need to worry about anything but getting immersed and enjoying your time! I can't wait to play Riven.

Aquí no vienes a disparar, vienes a hacer turismo existencial por islas surrealistas, tocar palancas con fe ciega y resolver rompecabezas que te miran a los ojos y te dicen: “a ver si muy listo”. La propuesta es simple y cruel: exploración atmosférica, puzzles estilo habitación de escape y una narrativa misteriosa con vibra steampunk y FMV (sí, video con actores reales, porque los 90 no pedían permiso). Primera impresión: hermoso, extraño, y con esa energía de “no te voy a explicar nada, campeón”. Es “Casual” solo si consideras casual el acto de tomar notas como si fueras detective, ingeniero y arqueólogo al mismo tiempo. Un jugador, cero manos que te ayuden, y total compatibilidad con mando para que te desesperes desde el sillón con estilo. [h2]Lo Misterioso y lo “¿Quién Diseñó Esto?”[/h2] Lo Bueno: Rompecabezas con identidad: no te llevan de la mano, te empujan al agua y aprendes a nadar. Ambientación atmosférica noventera: surrealista, misteriosa y con ese encanto de clásico. Compatible con mando: ideal para explorar sin estar pegado al teclado. Toques de FMV y narrativa “buena trama”: raro, memorable y muy de su época. Exploración pura: sensación de descubrimiento constante si te gusta investigar. Lo No Tan Bueno: “Simulador de caminar” para algunos: si esperas acción, aquí la acción es… leer y observar. Dificultad poco “Casual”: la lógica noventera puede sentirse como un examen sorpresa. 0 logros: Steam te mira y dice “¿y tu dopamina de numeritos? bien gracias”. Comunidad miniatura: 6 jugadores actuales… básicamente un club de lectura, pero en una isla. Es un clásico: si no toleras lo retro en ritmo y diseño, puede chocarte. Si te gustan los rompecabezas y la exploración con misterio, aquí hay una aventura con personalidad, ambientación top y una narrativa que te hace querer entender “qué demonios pasó aquí”. Ahora, seamos controversiales: esto no es para todos, y no debería intentar serlo. Su encanto está en no explicarte nada y obligarte a observar. Si tu paciencia es de papel, lo vas a odiar. Si te gusta sentirte detective, lo vas a recomendar con una sonrisa sospechosa. La comunidad actual (6 jugadores) es diminuta, pero las 925 recomendaciones totales dicen lo obvio: no está vivo por moda, está vivo porque dejó marca. Es un clásico que sigue funcionando… siempre y cuando tú también vengas en “modo clásico”. Firstly I want to say that I love Myst and the whole Myst series. Although if you are going to play Myst for the first time I recommend that you play Real Myst: masterpiece edition. (Unless you are on a budget, prefer the older look of this version, don’t care for a free roam option, or have an older computer.) Now that we’re done with all that word vomit. This is this still one of my favorite games. It has fantastic worlds to explore, fun puzzles (although some are pretty hard), and the base of a great story.

Ну, это игра детства, классика, монументальный шедевр, создатель нового поджанра "мистоиды". Рекомендую также 2 и 3 части, особенно сиквел Riven очень хорош!

This is probably the most frustrating game I've ever played. One puzzle requires you to be a musician who can identify notes perfectly, or move five controls precisely with a mouse. If you get it wrong, you just fail, there's no 'three out of five are right' or any hints. No subtitles either so completely inaccessible. Hard dis-recommend.

It's Myst, in a convenient and stable package that works well on modern computers. It even has a few nifty quality of life settings. Surely it's worth $2.39 on sale
