Remember the iconic “HASTA LA VISTA, BABY” scene from the Terminator 2? Mummy Sandbox is basically that scene, where you start as a disembodied spirit that collects body parts, clothes, tools, and mummy wrappings to gain new skills and fulfill your destiny. It’s an hour-long experience that successfully mixes gallows humor and meaty 2D pixels with light Minecraft gameplay, and it's a sequel to The Red Mummy that you can play on itchio for free. You dig through sand to obtain new tools that will help you analyze, exhume, and plunder ancient burial corpses so you can reach ascension and existential pinnacle. Sort of what modern mega corporations are doing right now, innit? If you’re looking for an inspiring and insightful avant-garde game that asks you what is the meaning of life and if grave digging sounds appealing to you, why not try it out. It certainly made me feel like a corrupt government politician hell-bent on tax-evasion skullduggery for a full hour. Truly a timeless experience!
A very strange, but entertaining way to spend an hour of your life.

It's like if minecraft was good
i forgot a rock and it took me 15 minutes to find it A+ loved this game!
Not bad, I like the character artwork. The story, for what it is, makes a bit more sense if you play 'The Red Mummy', as this does appear to be a series of sorts. It shares some characters and the 'Vengeance Cafe' from what I noticed at any rate. Throwing stuff out of your inventory being part of the game mechanics was interesting.
Very light recommendation on this one. A simple excavation sim with some very lightweight, adventure-esque puzzle solving and a bizarre, retro-styled aethetic, it's not lacking for uniqueness at least, but with its short runtime no challenge to speak of, it's not exactly the most substantial game on the market. The biggest problem, however, is the lack of memorability. Gameplay is unique in theme, but extremely simplistic in execution. The overall atmosphere is always slightly ominous, but never scary, it's surreal, but not a genuine fever dream, like some of its competitors. There's not much to see and no real memorable moments. It feels more like a proof-of-concept rather than a finished product. Worth a look, if the concept intrigues you, but probably best not to expect anything mindblowing.
I played the demo for this with Haunted PS1 and had so much fun so I was excited to check out the full game. It was a pretty short game, but each part was fun and unique and this game has a style that I really love so glad to have played it!
mummy sandbox
it's worth a grab, pretty interesting overall
If you like monster corpses, pointing and clicking, great hand-drawn art, mummies, games that last about an hour, finding stuff you didn't know was there, aesthetic sensibilities consciously adopted from the PS1 era, digging, obscenely catchy synth music, sand castles, new and unexpected mechanics coming into play as the game progresses, and putting chopped-off heads on the wrong bodies, this game is for you. If you don't like those things, well, I pity you.
