No Mercy, Just Mud and Blood
This is not a game for the faint of heart. It’s raw, unfair, and brutally honest—just like war itself.
Step forward, Commander, and see if you have what it takes to endure the Mud and Blood.

Mud and Blood was, for the most part, created in an unlikely place: an outpost somewhere between Kandahar and Panjway, Afghanistan. Initially developed as a flash game by urb in between missions on a beat-up laptop, it became a way to decompress from the chaos. Ironically, a game about brutal, unforgiving war was itself forged in the heart of a conflict. What began as a personal project has since evolved into a cult classic, beloved by a fiercely loyal community for over 16 years.
At its core, Mud and Blood embraces a unique philosophy: challenge, not comfort. The gameplay is punishingly difficult, but it respects your tactical sense and cognitive ability. It doesn’t drip-feed you success to keep you engaged. Every decision matters, every mistake is costly, and every victory is hard-earned. This is a game that trusts its players to make tough calls on the fly, think critically, and persevere through chaos and loss.
In Mud and Blood, war is not heroic. It’s messy, unpredictable, and brutal. Yet amidst the carnage, there’s a raw beauty in the stories that emerge—a narrative forged by the player, much like the Dwarf Fortress of combat. Your experience becomes your own war story: a tale of triumph against an unrelenting enemy and the quiet pride of knowing you gave it everything you had.
Crafted with love, a touch of PTSD, and a deep respect for its community, Mud and Blood is a humble tribute to those who dare to face the impossible.

I hope the developers will introduce the Chinese language, which will attract many Chinese players like me to come and experience it
This game instantly brought me back to my childhood—sending soldiers into battle and planning every move. It’s the first game that truly made me fall in love with war strategy games, and I’m really grateful for how it brings that feeling back again. The gameplay is incredibly fun—brutal, raw, and completely unforgiving. It captures the intensity of real warfare in a way that feels both immersive and challenging. Every decision matters, and that’s what makes it so satisfying. One thing I’d really love to see in the future is the option to play as the German side. I think that would add even more depth and make the experience even more exciting. Overall, an amazing game that delivers a true war strategy experience. Highly recommended.

Best childhood flash game
I got bored of games so I came back to where it all started. Still hits just like nearly 2 decades ago, only now am slightly smarter so this game is super fun instead of "WHAAT THE FU-".
brutal wargame, rng truly is a ♥♥♥♥♥. Doesn't keep your settings, and that's a problem. The music is annoying
good game from my childhood, might need some updates for classic. I wouldn't mind if the troops did things that related to their jobs similar to the campaign in classic mode, since that's my favorite game mode.
After completing the campaign once, I will say the games is vastly different from your typical titles. Like the dev said the games heavily rely on tactics and manuverability, the smart and a bit "quirky" AI makes full use of the map, your mistakes to punish you deeply. The unfairness is definitely in there, it's not for the faint of heart and show the other aspect of an actual war. Where decisions and squad movements matter, not some guy "one man army"-ing the war. Overall a great game, the unfairness, the AI and the whole game itself is a masterpiece. (Also a great anger management game for those who rage quits alot)
