Moonlight Peaks

I'm enjoying the game. I think people hold too much expectation for a game that's only very VERY recently released. Often comparing it to Stardew which has been out for a VERY long time. This is a farming sim first and foremost. Of course you're expected to repeat things over and over. $35 USD is pretty cheap considering most games these days are nearly $80 right out of the gate. Good: Pretty but not overly taxing on the graphics card. Some of the names are referencing to other literature. Like Mina (Bram Stoker's Dracula). Others are your standard English names that are super common like Evan which I don't mind. I wanna pronounce and remember the names, not summon Cthulhu by accident. Music is pretty but not distracting. You have to REALLY plan out your layout ahead of time instead of doing what I typically do: shove everything in a corner for practicality and ignore the rest. You have your own kitty to pet and talk to. My favorite thing of all: you absolutely can not bum-rush the game like normal (something I tend to do a lot even when actively trying not to). Also, they don't just throw a bunch of info dump at you and you toddle away not remembering half the things it told you. Bad: Controllers is 100% preferred method of gameplay. Switching between KMB and Controller can become annoying. Especially if you plan on modding and you'll need it upon character creation. Ugly: Not really much except for occasional animation lag which, from the Patch Notes, is known and being worked on. I am not too far into it to really notice anything more serious. Seriously though, yes Stardew made farming sims popular. But it shouldn't be the be all, end all for any farming sim going forward. And if repeating things over and over again bothers you, then you aren't the targeted audience. And that's okay. Give it a proper chance is all I'm saying.

There is so much to do! I have barely scratched the surface at 40 hours in. The plot line is keeping me engaged, and ready to figure out what happens next. However, I do feel there should be a trigger warning, with one of the NPC's being an alcoholic. I haven't encountered more than just a visual glitch, and I have been playing on my Steam Deck for the majority of my time so far. I absolutely love that this works best with a controller!

It is super cute, relaxing, and fun to play.

I love it! It's such a fun and cute game, I like that there's aspects of Animal crossing and Stardew. I love that it's dark too! It's so easy on the eyes!! Would definitely suggest playing this <3

This is a game where I struggle to completely recommend it. I wouldn't say it's a bad game. Moonlight Peaks is a fun experience that has things to offer, but it does fall short of other similar games. The game does well in having constant quests and goals to work towards so that the days don't feel too aimless and the characters have events for each heart you earn. However, you can only befriend people to 4 hearts before having to pursue them romantically to see the rest of the events so sometimes their stories feel incomplete if you don't plan on romancing them. Marriage, too, is disappointing and doesn't really add much. The farming is fun with varying spells to help accomplish watering, chopping, mining, etc, but I finished the main game only using the watering spell because most of the time the other spells were unnecessary. The game is quite easy so I felt there needed to be more of a challenge to push me to use the other spells. And oof, the biggest disappointment, is that the game is riddled with bugs and lacking many QOL fixes that elevate other games. There is no bulk cooking, when changing clothes the clothes you were wearing go into your inventory instead of just staying in storage, you can't walk through crops, there's too many menus to click through, and just various other annoyances. As for the bugs, I had to wait a few days for the devs to fix a bug that wouldn't let me continue the main quest because the cutscene got bugged. I've also had to restart days over because my character got stuck (and you can only save at the end of the day). I wanted to love this game, but as the game is right now, it is enjoyable but wouldn't be at the top of my list and would sit maybe at a B. I wouldn't say the game is horrible, though. I still say give this game a try if you're fan of farming sims, but there are better ones.

There's cute goth vampires. You have a demon cat. You're Dracula's kid. You can pet your mimic helper. You can farm onions under the moonlight, all in very cute purple palette. 10/10 and your uncle is literally a bat.

It's a very cute sim that has been helping me decompress after work. There is nothing majorly pressing about the game, unless you are doing a time limit type of job, but even that doesn't feel stressful. I'm definitely enjoying it. I just wish I knew how to change clothes, or hair style on my character but I also haven't really looked that hard into it. Overall love this game so far.
