Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.86/day in the week to Sep 8 → 2.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 24: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin was better than the first Monster Hunter game in nearly every way. And that's saying a lot, because I loved that game. Monster Hunter Stories 2 opens with this anime-esque cutscene, and you just know you're in for a treat here. New to this game are companions. You're no longer just fighting alongside you and your monstie. An ally and their monstie have been added to the battle. Honestly, this is a small touch that improved a lot of what I disliked about the first game. In the first game, I felt like every fight was a disadvantage because there were 2-3 enemies and only 1.5 of us (the main character's damage was practically negligible). Furthermore, it allowed for epic moments like seeing Avinia and Frostfang, Reverto, and Cheval and Rathi. These moments were epic and unexpected, since I didn't think the second game was so closely related to the first. I wish the two games were more closely connected. For example, Lute gets mentioned several times briefly throughout the story, but only really as an afterthought. He doesn't take on a full role within the second game's campaign. It would've felt more like an interconnected world a la Xenoblade Chronicles if Lute actually showed up and played a bigger role, but I digress. The battle system is pretty much the same as it was in the first game. You've still got the classic rock, paper, scissors mechanic, which never gets old. But now you can break certain parts of an enemy monster, helping you throughout the battle. I loved the environments in this game, as they were fully realized for home consoles rather than the 3DS. You can tell. However, I feel like a lot of these environments were just rehashes of the first game. You've still got a desert, a volcano, an arctic region, etc. They just show up in a different order. I see a lot of people saying they prefer the first game, and that's wild to me. Monster Hunter Stories 2 is a damn near perfect JRPG in every sense. While Monster Hunter Stories had its issues, the second game nearly perfected them. It totally immersed me in this game's story and lore. When I was playing it, I wasn't thinking about anything else besides this world. And after all, isn't that what video games are for?
I wish I could show every Pokemon Fan this game while pointing at it wildly and yelling "THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE A MONSTER COLLECTOR GAME!!" The open world is beautiful, and a joy to explore. If you can't *find* the perfect monstie via egg gambling, you can *make* it by playing with their genetics. The combat may seem to be a trivial rock-paper-scissors, but you have to factor in move type, element type, weapon type (depending on body part), enraged status, AND if your monster is going to try to be a cool guy and use its moves. I would recommend playing with the voices in Japanese though, as the English voices are far more annoying to play with. All in all, I love this game. Though, I was a bit disappointed they removed genetic swapping changing your monster's outward appearance, like it did in the first game. 100/10 would recommend
(+) If you've ever been interested in the Monster Hunter franchise but aren't into its demanding gameplay, this is a great alternative, especially if you like turn based combat (+) Very bright and charming artstyle, think Breath of the Wild but slightly less detailed (+) Memorable cast of side characters (+) Collecting and customizing the genes of your monsties are tons of fun (you can make an aptonoth breathe fire or a velocidrome spit poison if you want) (+) Stellar performance with little to no bugs and zero crashes on my playthrough, and I've been playing this game on a pretty cheap laptop (+) Convenient quality of life features like the ability to skip battles and fast forward animations (+) As with most Monster Hunter games, the game only begins once the main story ends, MHS2 is no different, there's tons of late game content if you have the time to spare (-) Gameplay is incredibly simple (rock paper scissors) and gets very repetitive by the latter half of the story, skill expression generally boils down to the player remembering what move will the monsters be using during each phase. If you're not a fan of turn based combat, this game will make you hate it even more (-) The main characters (like the protagonist and Navirou)... are bland and bordering on annoying. The protagonist is useless and f***s up multiple times throughout the the story, while Navirou... I don't know what to say other than f*** Navirou (Both of these guys are in 99% of the cutscenes btw so good luck) (-) The story is below average, which is disappointing considering there's the word 'Stories' in the title. You'd think it'd be one of the game's main selling point. (-) This has nothing to do with the gameplay itself but I had this game on my wishlist for the longest time. Capcom just refuses to give it a discount when its on sale for a couple of years. After waiting for so long and finding out that the game isn't as amazing as the glowing reviews make it out be, I was just let down even more. I'm not going to say I regret playing this game, there are hours where I genuinely had fun, but it did definitely overstay it's welcome for me. Get it when it's on sale (6.5/10)
Despite stories being in the title I found the story to be a rather frustrating mess of fan service to players who played the last entry in the series while also trying to be its on story. unfortunately it fails in the latter and feels more like a messy combination between old and new story elements. The new monsties and other gameplay additions are quite a positive however and I found myself enjoying the new weapons and co-op dungeons quite a bit. Personally I'd say get it at a sale, but for the gameplay and not for the story. the first one does the story better in my opinion.
