Money for Girls: Amortized

[h1]I'm simply a girl trying her best..![/h1] Probably the best game I've played all year? Almost certainly one of [b]the[/b] best written games I've ever played, and I have played a lot of them. Top five, maybe. But above all it is definitely a game that I felt immensely seen by. [i]Money for Girls[/i] is yearning, desperately eloquent, immensely stupid, tear-jerking, melancholic, hilarious, queer, perverted, toxic, sapphic, and in general it is about what it means to be a woman (to me, at least). As another reviewer stated, this game gets it. It really, really does. Womanhood is ugly and gross all over the place. It is beautiful and transcendent and connective. My womanhood, my girlhood, means everything to me. Longing. Pain. So much pain. Grief. Yearning. Misery. Impossibilities that nonetheless are physiological requirements. This game somehow captures it all. [i]Money for Girls[/i] is about what it means to strive and suffer and question at every single turn, about how we fight to retain selfhood in a world dedicated to shaping us, with so many levers to pull to shape us. The game is about how silly and horrifying; how bizarre and cruel; how wretched and mocking; life is. What do our bodies mean? What do we do with them? What do others want from our bodies? What do we want from others? If you like any of the following: adventure games, horror games, visual novels, incredible soundtracks, mindboggling art, surreal nightmares, toxic romances that are the sweetest thing ever, gorgeous life-spattered meaty poetic prose, if you like reading and life and to be quite honest video games in general, this is a must play. I imagine I will look back on this in years to come and many subsequent replays and say, this is still all about me, [i]how did they know????[/i] I simply cannot recommend this game more. It has inspired like, five projects of mine that I've since started, and I am writing like a madwoman because I played this. Thank you so much to everyone involved in the creation of this wonderful work of art. Also lets you simulate life with endometriosis which was the most meaningful thing I could have ever had simulated for me in a video game, to be quite honest.

SPOILER WARNING: This review will contain spoilers!!! I bought this game just because I thought it looked cool, that's it. I watched the trailer a couple times and bit the bullet and bought it, and I wasn't disappointed. Money For Girls has really wonderful art, good music, and a lot of good writing and characters, and a really interesting story and world to get lost in. With the different traits you can choose at the start of each run and the multiple endings the game has, I felt there was an actual reason to do another run of the game, aside from choosing dialogue options I missed out on for the sake of it. I'll be honest and say that after playing through the game the first time, I was confused about a lot of the story and characters (I got the Girls End first), but after multiple playthroughs, I began to understand the story a lot more and enjoyed the game more because of it. Seeing Agnel go from a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bully, to warming up to Cancer, then turning into who she really was, was really entertaining, and that's especially thanks to the art that sold the horror of what she had to live as. Where I really fell in love with the game was with Cancer and her mother. Seeing Cancer's mother enjoy listening to her talk about the game she likes, Cancer telling her she's into girls, and telling Cancer she's a valid woman and there's nothing wrong with her decision to transition (if you choose the boyborn trait and go through the beach scene) was honestly extremely heartwarming. It was a great contrast to how Cancer's mom used to struggle with alcohol because of the stress from her job and how she's worked hard to move past that point, and wants to make up for that lost time. In my life, the adults in my family are like, SUPER homophobic and aren't half as invested as Cancer's mom was into their kids growth and understanding of the world, so it was really touching to see that in their relationship, cause it's something I wish I had more of. I read that beach scene three times and really, really loved it. Everything that was written within their relationship, the good, the bad, and the ugly, I loved every second of! For a game I bought for the hell of it, I got my moneys worth.

If you're a fan of dark and evil yuri, you'll love this. All jokes aside, the story rocks and the music is even better. Let's dance for the future, one more time.

it is unbelievable how obsessed i am with the art, sound, music, and every other aesthetic design element of this game

Very strong start for a first game published and developed! The thing is, the game is a bit TOO obscure for me. I had no clue that Agnel had any affection for Cancer until she says that the Cancel outfit choice was cute. The scenes also sometimes are a bit too fast for their narrative. I wanted a lot more from the "Date!" scene. I kinda wanted more from all of the scenes. That doesn't mean I want more words, I'm more so upset I didn't get to know Agnel's deal besides the ending reveal. She didn't feel like a person to me, and the two girls' conversations felt less organic than Cancer and Her mom. Despite all that, I LOVE this game! But I can't assure people that they will have a good time.

this has effected me in ways I will only begin to understand days, if not weeks later. the tears I have yet to shed will be repaid, with interest. for every girl with something wrong with her, even if she doesn't know it yet.

An absolute delight. gay creepy and gross. 10/10.
